Jetlife33
Like the move. Our infield defense is vastly, vastly improved.
Jetlife33
Headley, Didi, Prado, Tex. Not to mention Gardner and Ellsbury in the outfield. Only weak spot defensively is RF.

SenorGato
Steal at this price, Yankees continue to have a good offseason. With Ellsbury/Gardner/Headley/Gregorious/McCann the Yankees have a really good defense coming together.
Barton
Not only is it a terrible contract for the years AND the amount but it also blocks Refsnyder and Pirela from developing in the majors at 2nd base. A big reason why the Yankees dont develop positional players is because of moves like this.
Blackout
lol @ A-rod being on anybodies lineup now that we got Headly signed up

A big reason why the Yankees dont develop positional players is because of moves like this. Or they have more time to get seasoned down at triple A, instead of just giving them the job let them earn it. When Beltran inevitably gets hurt Prado will move to RF and refsnyder will be called up. It's nice to have some depth. How is this a terrible contract? Headley has been more productive than Panda the past 3 seasons yet Pablo's fat ass got double the money. Stop drinking the haterade. Jetlife33
We really need tex to step up this year..guy cannot miss half the season and hit .225 Can't argue with that. Unfortunately that is what has become expected from Tex.
Bob
Stop drinking the haterade. If Barton gives up haterade, he'll die of thirst. This a is a great signing for the Yanks. Cashman says Arod will be a full-time DH. He might actually flourish at that.

A big reason why the Yankees dont develop positional players is because of moves like this. Disagree. Headley is a pretty good bat for a 3rd basemen and his contract is basically half of what Panda got from the Roid Sox. Arod has to be a full-time DH at this stage of his career. Only problem is what do we do with Beltran? That guy cannot stay healthy playing RF anymore. Maybe move him or Arod to 1st base when Tex gets injured. We signed Chris Young who is a very good defensive outfielder. Problem is we need Beltran's bat in the lineup and he has to play somewhere. PFSIKH
Pablo Sandoval, 2012-2014: .759 OPS, 116 OPS+, 8.2 WAR, $90 million Chase Headley, 2012-2014: .782 OPS, 123 OPS+, 13.6 WAR, $52 million What are Chase's numbers when the career year is removed? I am not huge Panda fan and agree he is a tad over paid, but Chase has had one great year and the other 7 are merely meh. And I am not arguing Panda as being HofF caliber. He is however been more consistent throughout the years and his career numbers (OPS, OPS+) are better than Chase's. Plus, he is a few years younger. faba
Headley had one great offensive year- the rest average- but he will help with defense and right field band box will help him over a year worth of atbats
Jetlife33
Headley had one great offensive year- the rest average- but he will help with defense and right field band box will help him over a year worth of atbats Average hitting with way above average defense at a premier position for 4 years 50 million? I'd do that any day.

vincenzo69
Headley had one great offensive year- the rest average- but he will help with defense and right field band box will help him over a year worth of atbats Chase hit pretty well the 58 games he was here last season. He's a decent right-handed bat and at 30 years of age he's relatively young by MLB standards and definitely by Cashman Yankee standards. The real benefit is that Arod now gets to be a full-time DH and we desperately need his bat for at least 130 games next year otherwise it will be a 3rd straight season with no playoffs.
