It's all over except the memories.

He is still trying to decide if he is going to try and play in college or not.  Probably not.  Might do a couple years of community college and transfer to someplace like local like George Mason.

Going to a CC first and then 4 year college is good to take the time to decide what you might want to do in the future.

He is thinking Kinesiology/Sports medicine.  Couple schools that have his major have been visiting him at school and calling him.  got a couple visits planned for January. So we'll see.  If not, he will probably stay local.

No Football at Mason, sadly.

Not true.  They actually have club ball there.  For Joe, if he does two years at NOVA, obviously not playing I doubt he will go back and play as a junior.  Never know though.

As of right now he has a few D2 and D3 schools visiting and inviting him for visits.  If one with his major invites him to play I could see him going.  I think he wants to play but trying not to get his hopes too high. Club-Football-2-resize-723x264.jpg

JMO, if a D2 or D3 school wants him to play football, he should.

Without any hesitation.

It's an opportunity most don't get.

My college baseball career was one season of absolute failure and injury.  My college football career much shorter han even that.

And I wouldn't trade either for anything.  I only wish they were longer.

Even if he prefers C.C., there are C.C. with Football Teams he could play for as well.  Potomac State was always the one Baseball Players went to who couldn't/souldn;t go to a 4 year.

Like I said my old friend, JMO, having been where he is now.

Hey Crusher, just curious.. did your son wrestle?   In HS we had an amazing kid on the line.  He wasn't as big as your son but he was an all-state freestyle wrestler.  He knew all the secret 'angles' and could move us around like chess pieces, it was almost scary.

Glad your son did well and remained healthy.  Hope he can parlay it into college opportunities, if that's his goal.

He has visits in January.   Brdigewater in Virginia, Methodist in Fayetville, Frostburg State in Maryland and and West Virginia State University in Charlestown.  Bridgewater and Methodist make the most sense to me.  They both have his major and are very interested to have him.  Just have to make financial sense.

I personally would like to see him play and I know he wants to.  I'm just trying to keep him from getting his hopes up to high in case it does not work out.

Yes. But stop after his shoulder injury and never went back.  he spent his Junior year out after a 360 degree glenoid labrum tear.  Took 14 months to rehab.  But is perfectly fine now.

Great film, looks like he has the natural ability, even a low-level DIII staff would coach him up a ton, I bet.

I would definitely encourage him, and get in the coaches ears. Having that to focus on as a freshman is way more of a help than a hindrance, IMO. Keeps you structured, gives you a social outlet with older students who have been through it already, choosing staff keeps an eye on you. Helped me tremendously, I think I would have been a disaster without it. And you really do get next-level training and knowledge of the game, and usually a few other perks.

I agree 100% on the structure thing.  Im just trying to keep things in perspective for him.  He actually got two more visits last week.  So January we will be visiting some schools and see if anything shakes out.

Baby Crusher is officially done with high School football.  I still feel like I'm "Missing" something on Fridays.  LOL  Nonetheless.  This is his final highlight film for his entire senior season if you missed the other dozen I put up.  Sorry, proud papa here.

If it doesn't work out at least he'll know he (figuratively) submitted the application. Decades of "what ifs" isn't necessarily better than being able to say to oneself, "Hey, I gave it a shot and there were too many others who were simply better."

Should the decision be made to not try at all, IMO it should be because the determination is that the permanent injury risk is deemed too high, and that such damage will be risked without NFL-level compensation. But if that's not a serious factor, I'm generally a believer in giving things a shot while that shot exists. Time will not wait for him to change his mind 10 years from now, proud papa.

Pretty much were we are at.  He has some schools to visit in January.  If something is offered and works I couldn't imagine him not doing it.
