Philbin Returning to MIA Next Season

Philbin's done a good job this season and Tannehill's looking like the second best qb in the AFC East.  The next 4-5 years are going to be brutal for this organization unless Woody grows some hair on his balls and fires Idzik.

No he hasn't. That team has underachieved. Philbin should have had to make the playoffs to keep his job. Instead his team got eliminated a week earlier this year than last.

You know what's a bad sign for the Dolphins? The fact that I am thrilled that Joe Philbin will be returning as their head coach.

Saw this on NFL.com :

The Dolphins have scored more than 30 points five times under Lazor this year after managing the feat just twice in two seasons under Mike Sherman.

I can't even remember when we last scored 30+ points

EDIT - had a look, figures that it was last season against the mighty Raiduhs. We also posted 30 against the Patsies & Falcons.

Three times in 2 years ...

Philbin has done a very good job under the circumstances(rebuild the oline in one year). losing Lt a Brandon Albert was the biggest blow that they couldn't overcome.( a lot of teams lose their Lt. , and they are going to be in trouble).

He's turning Tannehill into the real deal.

Truth is, who cares?  The list of Head Coaching candidates is pathetic.  They could easily do worse.

Grass is always greener. Tannehill is a Pennington with a live arm.

If Philbin were coaching the Jets with the same level of "success" we'd all hate him and rightfully so.

Losing Alpert and Moreno was huge. They only had 3 bad loses and all were to teams in or on the cusp of the playoffs. DT Paul Soliai meant more to that teams D than they thought.

My thought was that they inquired back door about harbaugh and were rebuffed.

Under Philbin the went 7-9, 8-8 and will likely go 9-7 this year.  I know it is only one game a year, but it tough to fire a guy that trends that way.

Exactly. They can't beat good teams. They've never been able to. In Philbin's tenure they have an atrocious record against winning teams, They are 7-14 against teams with winning records.

That was more due to Orton not moving the ball against the Dolphins defense than anything Tannehill did.

Beating the Bills? That's like being the smart kid in the remedial class.

Change the goals posts why dont you?

Top 5 D = Bills.  Tannehill beat them.

He beat the Pats too.  They have a top 10 D.

You're just all sorts of wrong.

If Philbin was coaching the Jets with Tannehill as his QB would you be happy with their "progress?"

7-9, 8-8, 9-7 with a franchise QB.

Yes.  They're trending in the right direction.  10 wins is all but guaranteed based on past indicators. In 2020 I expect them to go undefeated again.

BULLsh*t!!!

You lying sack of crap!

If Philbin were HC of the NYJ and Tannehill were our QB you'd be pining over whatever loser was the starting QB of the Dolphins just like you always do.

You loved Henne and you love this loser. ADMIT IT!!!
