SouthernJet
Eric just mentioned on Jets Live (live now) that he talked to Mike before Presser and Mike told him Jets will be VERY active in Free Agency. http://www.newyorkjets.com/schedule/event/Jets-Talk-LIVE-201501211200/54a95e24-5ce1-41ea-aa26-dfcd4d8f66b1

sec101row23
I'm not sure how you can't be active this year, doesn't mean you will sign all big money guys, but there are holes at LBer, Safety, Guard and RB that need to filled with viable options. Beerfish
I was hoping we'd leave 20% of our cap on the sidelines like last year, since it worked out so well It worked out very well. We had a crappy coaching staff, a GM that made big mistakes and we could have spent all of our cap money over paying and over terming guys like DRC. (We may have cobbled out another win or two maybeeeeeee) Instead we cleaned house and the new regime has a very favorable situation to come into instead of spending a year or more cleaning up a huge mess. Don't just throw money at Free agents that are either old or not going to make a real contribution. Or worse quit.

Like what the Raiders did last year, overpaying guys who are over 30 years old to big money deals, that's wasting money. You can sign guys who are under 30 and productive players to bigger multi year deals, like Decker last year. You can sign an aging vet as a stop gap, just sign him on a one year deal. sec101row23
And yet Oakland still has $50 mil in cap space for 2015 They were so far below the minimum cash spend threshold last year they had no choice. Doesn't make the signings good ones.

The Jets have money, it just goes quickly. You can give out a few decent contracts, they just better be to guys who are worth the money.
