Patriots locker room attendant tried to put unapproved ball into AFC final

Denial of what? There is no evidence (that has is publicly available) that the Patriots did anything wrong. If you have such evidence, you should provide it to the NFL, they would love to hear it.

No, the opposite. The NFL doesn't want to hear anything about this.

You guys are insane. The report from an ESPN "reporter" that you guys are in love with is BS.

The NFL has reportedly fired an employee who sold footballs that were used in the AFC Championship Game — footballs that later became the source of the Deflategate controversy when the Patriots were accused of playing with under-inflated footballs on offense.

Adam Schefter reported on ESPN today that the footballs used in the game were supposed to be donated to charity, but that one employee took some footballs and sold them instead.

“There are a few different league officials, according to people I spoke with today, at the game, who handled the footballs,” Schefter said. “League employees: League Employee 1, League Employee 2 and League Employee 3, we’ll call them, for lack of a better phrase, whose jobs are to handle the balls on game day. And League Official 1, he’s also supposed to take the balls out of play and then send them off to a charitable endeavor to raise money for a charitable endeavor that the league is embarking upon. Only on this day, and since that day, the league has since fired that employee for allegedly selling off some of those footballs on the side. So that employee — League Official 1 — has been fired since the AFC Championship Game.”

If this is true, League Official 1 is lucky if all that happens is he gets fired. From Schefter’s description, it sounds like League Official 1 could also be facing criminal charges for stealing NFL property and selling it.

This is, of course, a totally separate matter from the question of whether the Patriots deflated footballs in violation of league rules. But it’s relevant to Deflategate in that it shows just how little oversight there is on the footballs that are used on the field. So little oversight that it would be easy for a team to tamper with footballs — and hard for the league to conduct an investigation after the fact.

I have no idea what this is.

It's the cover up that resulted from a finding that occurred during the course of doing the original coverup that needed to be performed to cover up for the commissioner's cover up of spygate. Keep up with the cover up.

There's no way it was the ball boy acting on his own.  An absurd concept.  The cheating in the Colts game didn't matter though.  The Pats dominated that game.  However, if there was the same cheating going on against Baltimore in that very close divisional game, then the cheating might have meant everything to their title this year.  And Spygate is the same for those 3 very close Superbowls they won.

Whatever though.  I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Why 2007, why not before?  I remember Babe Parelli used to throw great in the bad weather.

The jets can line up a coach and 5 players, stick their legs out and still can't trip a guy.

the fact that the pats balls were deflated and indy's weren't isn't evidence?

It's so funny how the Pats cheated threads are just full of Pat fans trying the usual " No thing to see here" B.S.

Even if the Pats get zero punishment.

One thing is for sure, they will be playing with the correct PSI footballs from now on. It's going to be interesting to see how their exceptional fumble ratio holds up from now on.

Who says the indy balls were not deflated? all that is known was that they were still at 12.5 or above. You don't know what level they were filled to (13.5?) and what was the ambient temp at when the balls were deflated.

This is not rocket science, but 10th grade chemistry. If the Colts filled up the footballs outside or in a hallway in the stadium there would not be a drop in PSI due to the temp change in playing outside, the only change would be from evaproative cooling associated with the balls being wet and a slight pressure drop due to the leather swelling.

Why because rule was changed in 2007

What rule? That each team supplied their own footballs? How does that change the ability of the pats to deflate the balls if they wanted to?  If you thought they cheat, why did they not inflate the other teams balls to 14 lbs and make it easier for the opposition to fumble.

Tell me how this affects PSI pressure variations due to game conditions. The NFL is going to suspend the the Ideal gas laws? The NFL is powerful but I don't think they can alter physics.
