kelly
- Long Island Jets fans will have to keep trekking to attend training camp. Farmingdale State College had been on the team's short list of possible locations, but a source told Newsday the campus has been ruled out for this year.Though Long Island itself wasn't the issue, logistics were. Because the school doesn't have a football team, there aren't any football fields on campus. There also wouldn't be enough time for the Jets to get the necessary pieces in place for the start of training camp. Now that Farmingdale State is out of the running, that leaves SUNY Cortland -- the site of several recent Jet's training camps -- and the team's practice facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, as the final two options. Farmingdale State could be considered for future training camps, however. The team is expected to hold a fan event on Long Island this summer.Hofstra was the site of Jets training camp until 2008 before the team moved to Florham Park. Stony Brook University was given strong consideration in 2009, but Cortland ultimately was selected as the team's training camp locale. The Jets have held training camp in Cortland every year since 2009, except for the lockout-shortened 2011 season. But in January 2014, they announced they would consider other options for this summer. > http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/jets-won-t-hold-training-camp-at-farmingdale-state-college-1.9956521

GenoandtheJets
They should just have it at Florham Park that's a state of the art training facility. The Jets are fools if they don't have it there. That's where they practice all season any way.

I remember there being some chatter that they liked "being away" because the camp atmosphere fostered team building. Probably a load of crap, but who knows? Football coaches have always bought into a bunch of crazy sh*t.
