Go big or go home (Winston)

It's time for the Jets to make a bold move. I'm sick of us trying to make the "by the book" move, the safe move. Sure, it may backfire. However, the risk is worth it. Winston wins. He's played in a pro system. He's called plays. He's won games in the 4th quarter. Granted, sometimes against inferior teams, but he's not the schedule maker.

What does it take to get from 6 to 1?

So did tebows, lehart, Gino Torretta and a sh*t load of other crappy nfl QBs.

The team wins.

it takes more than we have to offer...probably something like our entire draft for the next two years along with Wilkerson and Richardson packaged in for Tampa to give up Winston.

Tampa is not trading Winston. He became a buccaneer yesterday.

I am well aware of that...do you think we are giving up 2 entire drafts along with our 2 best players to roll the dice and see if we can keep Winston out of jail long enough for him to live up to his potential?

We haven't had a qb since Namath. It's a shame friggin Wrecks had to win those meaningless games at the end of the season and jack up our chances if actually getting a qb.

I'm tired of the scrubs at the qb position, just sick and tired of it.

Matt Moore? Lol do we even win 5 games next year with that loser?

What do you suppose the Jets should do about it? there is no chance of getting Winston now. I don't think Mariota would fit our team well. Our best options currently are going to be through a trade or free agency. We could try to trade for Glennon who most of the people on the forum seem to like though I don't see him as being a long term solution. I think the best option we have right now is to bring in a QB from free agency and draft Petty or Hundley in the mid rounds of the draft let them fight it out for the starter spot and if it doesn't work out there is always next year.

A little over dramatic, no? I think the RG3 trade will temper the asking price some. Don't doubt it would be a lot though.

And when Bryce Petty and Jake Locker are both out of the nfl in 4 years we will move on to our next bust qb.

The smart move would be to take a QB in later rounds. Just watch, they'll be a QB in this draft that's flying under the radar that's going to be very good.

Winston # 1 making all that money with expectations as high as the moon in NYC has disaster written all over it.

I honestly don't think its dramatic at all, the RG3 trade was for the number 2 slot from a team who already had a QB they believed in. it would be similar to what the asking price would have been to move up and draft Andrew Luck...first of all to think there is any chance of a Qb needy team giving up what they believe is the future of their team is ridiculous, secondly if they were even slightly unsure of Winston it wouldn't take a lot to get up to number 1 it would take everything (possibly more)

Making a bad move is not the solution to having made previous bad decisions.

Sure, it may backfire. However, the risk is worth it.

No, it isn't.

Winston wins.

In college.  So did alot of folks who never amounted to anything.

He's played in a pro system. He's called plays. He's won games in the 4th quarter.

He's raped women.  He's stolen things.  He taken money.  He broke rules.  Etc.....

Granted, sometimes against inferior teams, but he's not the schedule maker.

Usually against inferior opponents.  Usually with massive talent around him.

He's not the schedule maker.  He's simply the beneficiary of having way more talent around him, than against him.

What does it take to get from 6 to 1?

Enough that if it failed, it would set back the franchise a minimum of 2-3 years, if not more.

We'll obviously you know more than the local police department or college hearing that both cleared Winston.
