Oscars Discussion/Predictions

Morrissey

Recommended Posts

Plenty of movie buffs here, thought I would get an early start on the Oscars that are tomorrow night. Here are my predictions, only listed awards I thought mattered or that I have seen enough of the movies to make any sort of prediction. Nomineese with bolded red are who I think will win, if theres another bolded black nominee in a category that means I think they should win but won't.

is there a best cleavage category ?

No, because the Oscars are the gay Super Bowl. If you want to see boobs, watch Emma Rossum on "Shameless". Also, the 3rd episode of the Durst doc is on HBO, as is "Walkng Dead".  Something might even happen on WD. Or they may continue with this sweatingest film since "Cool Hand Luke" thing.

Can someone explain to me what was so earth-shattering about The Theory of Everything and Eddie's performance, I just don't see it.  The move is a romanticized story about the least interesting part of his life as far as I'm concerned. The guy is an icon for his scientific work, I really couldn't care less about his love life.

I posted this trailer in the movie thread just now for Larz, but Jodorowsky's Dune not getting nominated for Best Doc is ******* bullsh*t. The bias against SciFi from the academy is just something I will never understand.

It's the same bias they have against comedy, just to the nth degree. They either don't consider it "art" or they don't understand it, that's really about it.

I think Nightcrawler, Blue Ruin, Enemy, Skeleton Twins  were overlooked, liked those movies more than I liked American Sniper, The Theory of Everything, Foxcatcher, or Boyhood.

I think they really screwed the pooch in the best actor category. Jake Gyllenhaal should of been nominated for either Nightcrawler or Enemy. Bill Hader for Skeleton Twins, Ralph Fiennes for The Grand Budapest Hotel and David Oyelowo for Selma.

It goes back so far too. 2001 didn't even get nominated in 1968! HOW DOES THAT NOT EVEN GET NOMINATED. IT WAS ******* 1968!!!!

Because it was ambiguous and caused people to think, the academy doesn't like to think. They took one look at the monolith and was like f*ck it, we're already giving this award to the movie with the black actor in it, let's not rock the boat too much.

That's how I feel about Cloud Atlas too. Both the general public and academy were just like omg i'm not having a story spoonfed to me boooo booooooo.

It's the academy. You play a cripple or retard your guaranteed at least 10 nominations

I don't mind Wes Anderson, although his fan boys are terrible.

Darjeeling Limited was great.

Rushmore is still brilliant and I loved everything about Moonrise Kingdom. But yeah, it's a little annoying hearing people try to throw him up with Scorcese and Kubrick. It's not that hard to make entertaining sh*t when you put Bill Murray in everything.

Also I am not the biggest Anderson fan, but Grand Budapest deserves to run away with Best Cinematography. Shooting in 3 different aspect ratios while channeling Kubrick for the hotel timeline was some seriously original and brilliant sh*t.

I'm a huge Anderson fan and GBH is, by far, his best movie. Shoulda won Best Picture imo.
