Defensive end Darnell Dockett will stay in the NFC West next season, signing with the San Francisco 49ers, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, announced Thursday on Twitter.

Dockett signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the 49ers, with $4 million being paid in the first season and $2 million guaranteed, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Dockett's 11-year run with the Arizona Cardinals ended after last Friday when he was released by the team.  The Cardinals were open to re-signing him at a lower rate than the $6.8 million he was scheduled to earn in 2015.

Dockett, 33, missed all of the 2014 season after tearing his ACL during training camp last August. Before last season, Dockett missed two games in 10 seasons.

He finished his career with the Cardinals with 459 tackles, 40.5 sacks, 12 fumble recoveries, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions.

His three sacks in Super Bowl XLIII tied Reggie White for most in a Super Bowl.

Sorry, no way in hell do a pay a guy that much money( contract isn't big but it's still 6 mill guaranteed) @ 33 years old coming off an ACL!

Not with the weight these guys carry & playing inside.

I'm gonna say he won't be even close to the guy people remember, bad move by the 49ers.

If we aren't adding all of the ex-Card and ex-Bills, how are we ever going to be able to become better at football?

Well I think to be a better team first off is resigning our playmakers. Guys like Landry and Kyle Wilson should be getting more respect for what they have contributed to this team.......LOL.

Why do I suspect you're going to do this for the balance of the month of March?

Nah, once we actually start signing players, the dopes pining for Spiller and Stevie will fade away and we can talk about normal things again. Like butt secks and murdering T0mshane.

But until you deem them as having satisfactorily learned their lesson you plan on repeating this every time a former Bills or Cardinals player's name is mentioned?

You are aware that every new coach - both good and bad - tends to bring in players from their prior stop(s), yes? The discussion of such is nothing to get your panties in a bunch about, love.

Or do you think this relative void of new Jets discussion topics is better filled with even more in-thread derailment about a coach who is no longer with the team?

Memories....Jenkins was such a sheer and utter beast for us his one healthy year.  He'd just swat 300 pound olineman around like nothing.

I remember that one. Just an unbelievable talent for a man that large. Freaking shame we got so few healthy games out of him. He made Mangini's defense more or less by himself. Or it certainly seemed so. When he got hurt in '08, the defense went from beastly right back to horsesh*t.

There's no doubt in my mind if he had a healthy career he'd be going to the Hall of Fame (in a Panthers hat).

He was such a monster. He had a few of these plays that year.

Did you know the greatest coaching job that Tom Shane had ever seen was Rex Ryan's ability to still field a #1 D after Jenkins went down? True story. Best magic trick he's ever seen.

I genuinely thought he was gonna carry the Jets to the Super Bowl by himself that year before he tore the ACL (or whatever it was).

I wrote it once.

I am aware. I'm participating in the discussion by pointing out that the players people are clamoring for suck. Others are getting their panties in a bunch because they are wrong.

I don't care what gets discussed.

I'm not sure the point of this, you act as if you've never insisted you are right about something here.

Apparently for some "March Madness" has nothing to do with basketball... :animal0029:

I know there was no JN (or JI) back then, but this stuff was almost universally deemed to be perfectly acceptable to Jets fans when they were "Parcells Guys" being brought in.

All coaches do it, at least to some extent.

Yep I remember a RB the Tuna brought in for a 1st and 3rd pick plus a big contract ran for 3.5 ypc in 1998 and blew us away with 14 great yds in the AFCCG.. But he wasn't done the first game next season he fumbled and Vinny snapped his achilles trying to recover it..LOL

Every one of those 14 yards was classy, though.

Big difference between bringing in your guys, and bringing in a 1-dimensional first round bust.
