operaguy
If the Chargers are willing to trade, we should bring back Clemens to see if he can give Geno a run for his money. This way we kill two birds with one stone: 1) Bring back a former Jet and 2) Bring in a QB who played for Oregon.

We never got to see what Kel-dog could do with some talent and with a talented offensive coordinator. Scouts I've spoken to suggest that Kellen is perfect for Chan Gailey's spread offense. I am shocked by the lack of creative thinking here. It is hard enough reading this forum when all everybody does is oscillate between lusting after Mariota, Foles, Fitzpatrick, Hoyer, and Revis. When someone mentions something outside of the mainstream it isn't even given one iota of critical consideration. I thought more of this forum but today I have been disappointed. Adam Sandler helped bring Opera to a larger audience in some respects. For which he should be commended. However it was not my intention to mimic his style. I would prefer if you imagined my posts being read in a husky baritone voice. But lets try keep this on topic okay? Lets discuss KC11.

I can only guess what a wet fart means (farting into water? e.g. farting into bathtub?). operaguy
I'm pretty sure that post was about incest. Yes, I understand that the poster was insinuating that I am the product of sexual intercourse between family members. His crude comment was by all appearances intended to deride my suggestion that the Jets consider a QB not named Foles, Hoyer, Mariota, or Fitzpatrick. The crudity of his remark + his derision of a subversive view earned him praise from other JN posters. The comment was not so sophisticated that it flew over my head. I was hoping some posters would seriously consider whether Kellen Clemens would be preferable to Geno Smith. Nobody is willing to consider this perspective so the powers that should probably close this thread or take other similar measures

operaguy
I'm sorry? Assuming your apology is sincere and you are troubled by your conduct I hope you reflect upon the social norms of the internet and reconsider whether you wish to take part in potentially abusive conduct. I imagine you are a swell fellow and had no malicious intent. My comment was not meant to solicit an apology, it was meant to promote understanding. If you have taken the time to reflect upon your conduct then far be it for me to be in a position where I am forgiving you, rather I would like to thank you. Vinny16
Other than the fact that Clemens hasn't been good anywhere he's been, sure, this is a good idea. If we're talking strictly about bringing former Jets back to compete with Geno, then I think we'd probably be better off trying to pry Testaverde or Favre out of retirement. Vinny is about as immortal as they come. But even he is probably over the hill at this point. Clemens in Gailey's scheme could be a hit. Tell me what's not to love about Clemens in a spread style offense that hides lackluster qualities? The fact that a QB whisperer like Mike McCoy brought Clemens to San Diego should give you a sense of what the league thinks of him.

When you say crazy sh*t people mock and ridicule you. Don't take it personal. That's, like French for vegetable platter, right? I'm sure this is a joke It is depressing to try to put forward original suggestions that will hopefully animate a lively discussion only to be met with cruelty. Is it not enough that in reality one faces the stress of deadlines at work, stress from significant others / family members, and stress from all sorts of other sources? Even on a fan forum for the NY Jets we can't put aside our insecurities and anger to just discuss football in a friendly manner? If bringing in Kellen Clemens to compete with Geno Smith is immeasurably worse than bringing in Ryan Fitzpatrick or Hoyer then I suppose I must be a fool as I genuinely considered those three to be comparable quarterbacks. Hoyer had a 76.5 QB Rating last year, Fitzpatrick has a career QB Rating of 79.5 (although he was admittedly better last year at 95.3), and Kellen Clemens had a 78.8 QB rating last time he started. Given that I figured they were comparable and nobody seems inspired to attack people for suggesting we get Fitzpatrick or Hoyer, I did not expect this kind of response. JetsNation.com please accept my apology for not being sufficiently well versed in the relative merits of backup quarterbacks. Excuse me for not conceding to the collective wisdom of Hoyer / Fitzpatrick or bust. Most of all excuse me for trying to start a conversation slightly different than the one we're having in nearly every thread on this board. I'll go back to silently viewing threads where grown men attempt to read tea leaves in order to determine whether Revis will return to the Jets.
