Looking at teams who might be in a trade up down scenario..

There are a number of factors to consider when assessing whether teams might be in the mood to trade up or trade down in drafts.  Some of these are:

- Close to contending for the super bowl.

- Having an abundance of picks.

- History of being aggressive or wanting to make a splash.

- Being in a total rebuild.

- Being successful or being burnt in previous trade up or down attempts.

- Depth of draft vs clear position of need.

The two favorites this year re speculation are Cleveland and Philly but there are often surprise teams that jump up.

Arizona - Made the playoffs last year so they might feel they are close but I don't see them as a major candidate to move up.

Atlanta - They have a Gm with a history of being aggressive but they are in semi rebuild mode.  I think they would like to move up to get the pass rusher they want but they don't have a ton of ammo.

Baltimore - Their history suggests they won't move up high, they like to dicker around later in the round and in other rounds with smaller trade ups and downs.

Buffalo - They made their big trade up move last year and simply have little ammo to make any significant move.

Carolina - They haven't shown much of a taste to trade up in the past. I think they will stay put.

Chicago - They are in rebuild mode.  I could see them trading down from #7 if the price was right.

Cincinnati - They don't have a huge history of trade ups but sooner or later you would think  they would go for it.  They have been making the playoffs and then getting ejected early.  I would say they are a candidate for a trade up.

Cleveland - They have lots of ammo and are not afraid to move around in the 1st round but I think their trade up potential is not as high as other people think and if they do move up it will be for a receiver not the QB or a pass rusher.  Weeden, Manziel will put them off going after a QB.  They got Mingo last year.  In a pretty deep draft I think they stay put and use both their 1st rounders.

Dallas - People like to think they are a perpetual trade up possibility due to their owner but Jones has been pretty sensible the last few years.  They are close to the prize so they might go for it if they love a certain pass rusher or WR.

Denver - They will move up if there is a reason to do so.  They have to be in a go for it mode but I don't know if their needs match up with the strength of the top of the draft.

Detroit - Tough to figure these guys out, they seem to be a classic tweener team, a good team but not quite good enough to really challenge.  I don't see them as a big trade up possibility.

Green Bay - They have a history of having lots of picks and using them rather than to trade up.  However they were tantalizingly close last year the more time goes on the more temptation is to go for it.  I don't see them trading up high but if a guy they love drops to mid round perhaps.

Houston - Still in rebuild mode.  i don't see them moving around much.

Indianapolis - Clearly in go for it mode with their FA activity.  I think this could translate to a trade up.

Jacksonville - Still in rebuild mode.  A candidate to trade down imo, they may not want to move too far down though.

Kansas City - Not sure what to make the Chiefs in this regard.  I think they will stay put unless their is a mini run on WR's early.

Miami - Well the old Tanny influence may come to pass.  I could see them moving up but not too high.

Minnesota - Still in rebuild mode.  I think they will stay put or even trade down a bit.

New England - I would be very surprised if they traded up.  They will be active as usual but not at the top of the draft.

New Orleans - Seem to be in total tank/rebuild mode.  I don't think they will make a move in the 1st round.

New York Giants - I don't see the Giants as being a trade up team, possibly a small trade down candidate.

New York Jets - The new GM is not afraid to move picks around.  They are well placed to trade down but it will depend on certain circumstances and their asking price.  I do see them trading down a bit later in the draft to possibly recoup 5th or 6th rounders.

Oakland - A pretty good traded down possibility.  Still in rebuild mode. They have their Qb and one pass rusher.  WR is a need but this draft has a lot of good ones.

Philadelphia - With Chip Kellys wild west show this off season it seems a lot of people assume they will be a big trade up candidate.  This may be the case but I don't think he is going to sell the farm to do so.  I also don't think he has such love for Mariota that he will sell out to get him.

Pittsburgh - They have traditionally been a patient front office.  I would be surprise if they move up.

San Diego - They don't have massive ammo but I could see them to be in play for a trade up, but not too high.

San Francisco - This one is tough to gauge, do they think they are still a step away from the show or are they now in mini rebuild mode?  If they do move up I could see Leonard Williams being their target.

Seattle - They should have ammo to move up into the 1st round if they desire but not too far.  I could see them creeping ahead of a few competing teams if a guy they love falls towards the bottom of the 1st.

St. Louis - I don't think their needs fall in line with the value at the top of the draft.  I don't see them as a big move up candidate.

Tampa Bay - One of the bigger shocks of the draft would be them not sitting there and taking Winston.  It would instantly toss the whole draft and a lot of peoples mocks into the dust bin.  I think they will sit there and take him.

Tennessee - For sure a trade down candidate, they are in rebuild mode.  I don't think they want to fall too far down the draft so I don't see a traded down past the mid teens at most.

Washington - Have the big rep and the owner of wanting to make a splash but they are in rebuild mode.  A decent candidate to trade down, especially if some team wants a Qb and thinks the jets will take Mariota.
