The Troll
The Chargers are reportedly sweet on Mariota and have scheduled a private workout with him. Rivers' contract is coming to end after the season. While I don't personally like Rivers, hate him, in fact, he would be a massive upgrade at the QB position and instantly make the Jets a legitimate contender. The biggest obstacle to this scenario would be the Titans, who hold the number two pick and a coach with a massive Rivers boner.
Charlie Brown
We get Rivers and we would be as good as any team in the NFL. PERIOD! And he is not my favorite QB by far.
Larz
oh boy his salary is $15,750,000 jets can't afford the chargers long snapper without trading harris, wilkerson or marshall as part of the deal as in 2 of those guys plus harvard, lololol

I would also assume Fitzpatrick and his nearly $4 million cap charge would interest the Chargers as a hold the fort type and mentor to Mariota. If not, he can be released at no charge to the Jets. Plus, as mentioned, his contract is up after the season, which would likely mean an extension. I have no doubt the Jets could be creative there in order to stay under the cap this season. DaBallhawk
Rivers is a younger Drew Brees, I'd be all for bringing him in here. True leader, winner, has a bunch of good years left in him. Which means it's not happening of course.

Paradis
According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, there's been league-wide speculation that the Chargers "could be serious" about going after Oregon QB Marcus Mariota. Reporter Kevin Acee's report cites "numerous people in and around the league." The Bolts have scheduled a private workout with Mariota next month. It's unlikely Mariota would fall to the Chargers at No. 17, so a trade up would likely be necessary to secure his services. Per Acee, the speculation comes as Philip Rivers' Chargers future is up in the air. Rivers intends to play out the final year of his deal without an extension, while GM Tom Telesco wouldn't offer a blanket denial that Rivers could eventually be traded. 100% on board with Rivers. He'll play another 2-3 at least based on being the competitor that he is. Give him a good oline to work behind - In gailey's up tempo quick passing offense that relies less on big downfield throws... and i like the fit. A "top ten performance", based solely on the strength of one game.
Integrity28
No, but you're not winning a Super Bowl with either. To be fair, Rivers wasn't ever going to win a SB with Norval. So, maybe with the right coach that changes? I dunno. He'd be one of the best QBs I've seen in my lifetime for the Jets instantly.

The Troll
rivers is not available learn to love harvard I'd prefer Geno to win the job over a 32 year old journeyman on his 6th NFL team. I'd prefer Rivers, who may in fact be available, over either.

Xtina
I dont think you can win a Super Bowl with Rivers. Rivers has never been on a good enough team and was cursed with Norv Turner for most of his career. I'd rather have him than Revis if it came to that. NJ
I hate Flippy Rivers ... he's a whining jack-ass. I'd love to have him as our starting QB.
win4ever
I think part of the reason he was upset with the Chargers was that he didn't want to move his large family away from SD after all these years if they move to LA, so I doubt he is going to give us a discount when we ask him to move all the way across country. And we can't afford him anyway, unless the deal gets really expanded. He would make us a SB contender for sure, but we can't really afford him at the price he makes now, and the price he is going to command next year in the open market or resigning him this year. jack48
I hate Rivers. He has not got that much of an arm. He has that funky release. He throws dumb interceptions. And he is an a$$hole. Not to mention the salary. But.....

Spoot-Face
While I don't think Rivers is our future messiah at QB, he would make the Jets infinitely more fun to watch while a young QB sits and learns. If Mcags can fit him into the cap, I say go for it. It certainly beats running Fitzy out there.
JetsFanInDenver
oh boy his salary is $15,750,000 jets can't afford the chargers long snapper without trading harris, wilkerson or marshall as part of the deal as in 2 of those guys plus harvard, lololol They are not trading Marshall if they are getting a QB. Trading Wilkerson would not be the best thing for this team but they just might have to because we are soon going to find out that overpaid Harris is immovable. Those Cro and Harris overpaid deals are going end up biting us. So assuming Rivers is available its either Mo Wilk or Philip Rivers.
