I would have traded #1 if possible. I don't see either QB as a top 10 pick. And I really like Glennon, so a Tackle like Schreff is the perfect guy to shore up that line and give the QB a chance to do his job. 10 year starter at LT... That's worth a #1 pick IMHO

Definitely a Tampa-y pick

That was the smartest move of the draft and we're just 1 pick into it, and with that said....

THE JETS HAVE A CHANCE TO GET WINSTON!   :wild:

I don't have a problem with not going QB there nor the concept of building that horrible oline.   I do not think any olineman in this draft is a franchise LT however.  Scherff might be the best lineman but to me he pales in comparison to previous drafts.  In any case I would love if the real draft mimics Tampa not taking a QB, it will instantly throw the whole draft into turmoil and make it very interesting.

So how far would you have dropped and do u think Schreff would have still been available?

I agree with you, but at the same time based on what Tampa's offensive line looks like, this was a good move. I would go Oline again if I was outtasight in the 2nd round. One of those top OT's will probably be available. Then the rest of the draft should be the defense.

Without an option to trade my hands were a bit tied. And I really like Schreff, I think he has a major impact on that offense.

Scherff is the type of guy I would love to see the Jets take if they can trade back to 12 or 13.  The OL still worries me and I would love to see us get a guy who can come in and start at G as a rookie and then slide over and replace Brick a couple of years down the road.  I don't necessarily see him as a top 10 pick -- but you really shook things up a bit taking him #1.

I don't think it was that bad only bc, If Winston doesn't go #1 than who?

The draft's become so popular now, every prospect is so scrutinized, it's almost impossible not to be questioned and second guessed, especially in the top 5.

Tenessee would have to add extra man power and Verizon would have to open truck lines to field all the calls they would get at #2 for a trade.

Think about it, it's gotten to a point where, S, ILB, RB, TE and Interior Lineman are absolutely no, at #1. So you have, lock/shut down CB, dominant/freak edge rusher, DT, WR, LT or QB to choose from...

Even a lockdown CB would be tough to justify at # 1.

Then you did the right thing. Schreff wasnt going to be available in the 2nd round which means that you drafted a 1st round talent. It would have been cool to be able to trade though. Maybe next year.

It depends how you like to play this.

I personally don't like to make picks based on personal choice. I think the idea should be to pick who you actually think the team and or fan base would want. But to each their own.

Complaining no trade would be super lame bc doing these mocks with trades, with a group of people, turns what's already small percentages into a complete joke. IMO.

It would be like when the Dolphins took Jake Long.

If Tampa was not going to go QB, if it was me, I would have gone edge rusher with the #1 pick. I think you can still get a solid starting tackle at the top of Round 2, but edge rushers are hard to find.  Although in Scherff, you have a guy that is likely to be a ten year starter with a very low bust potential.  I would probably have gone in a different direction, but I am not going to kill the pick.

Do swap with the Jets and take Schreff there. I don't think he drops out of top 10, so I feel safe at #6.

I also seriously considered Fowler Jr., but thought he's too big to play OLB in Lovies system. More of a 3-4 LB. They need some one smaller, quicker. Beasley at his normal weight is the better fit there.

I think you did all right given circumstances and not wanting to go QB.

Fowler Jr is awesome but Definitely not an elite enough athlete to go #1 overall. Imo
