Darren Sharper sentenced

Believe I read he's up for a life sentence if he gets convicted on federal charges for the same type of stuff in New Orleans. Nine years sure seems light so hopefully he's got more coming, given I'm sure he's guilty since that's how he's pleading.

9 years. For a serial rapist. ****in a man.

Im no master of reading comprehension but when its all said and done dude is facing life.  really should be life.  No reason for this guy to ever get out again.  Some seriously sick sh*t right there.

Sadly, if his case had been tried in LA, he probably gets off with nothing.

It was the peak of his career. To put his fame to good use, Sharper even contributed to a book that came out that year titled NFL Dads Dedicated to Daughters. Sharper, who has a teenage daughter, wrote in the book that women are "undervalued and exploited."

"Money cannot buy the women we love everyday security, which men take for granted," Sharper wrote. "So, it's going to take strong, accountable men to educate young boys and influence other men to deal with women respectfully, honorably and fairly at all times."

Wow.

As part of the global settlement negotiated by his attorneys, he will serve about nine years behind bars, with credit for time served in Los Angeles, where he has been jailed without bail since Feb. 27, 2014. The deal includes a 20-year prison term in California, but because of stipulations in the law and his credit for time served, Sharper will serve "a little less than nine years of actual custody time," his attorney, Blair Berk said in court Monday.

In addition to the charges in California and Arizona, Sharper faces two rape charges in Las Vegas and three in New Orleans. He is expected to enter guilty pleas in those states within the next month as part of the settlement, but will serve all the sentences concurrently, with actual custody time not exceeding nine years. Sharper also will be on probation for life.

So he is serving about one year for each chick he raped? HORRIBLE.  Damn Rutgers.  Could you just leave my blissful ignorance alone?

Wholeheartedly agree, which is why I hope he gets life on the pending federal charge.

i thought 20 years was what he was getting in total adn that he could get out in 10 years.  i thought they said federal sentencing would be concurrent.    if he's going to get life - i doubt he would plead guilty, why not try to fight it. anyway, 10 years is pretty easy.   he's got what like 7 cases outstanding - so that's like less than 3 years per rape (and less for actual time served).  plus, god knows how many other cases there are.

this wasn't a one time mistake and they should have been harsher.

seems like the going rate, to me. 20 years, been in jail for 2 already. got 9 more to go. probably going to get and additional 10-15 years running consecutive fed time. by the time he gets out. he would have done 20 years. hardly a slap on the wrist

edit. meh. re-read.looks like the fed and the state charges are wrapped up into 1. I thought he was locked up for 2 years already, he has only been locked up for one. looks like he will do a total of 10 years and on parole for life. seems a little light. the courts tend to not focus on how many rapes but just that he is a rapist. good news is that he has parole for life and they have his dna. he pulls this stunt again and he will have his parole violated and probably wont have it granted again for a very long time

Actually he has Less Than 8 to go... His GLOBAL Plea Bargain would be for a total of 9 yrs to be served... He IS being Given Credit for time served in LA & has already served over a yr since he's been incarcerated since Feb 2014. He'll be out sometime in 2022.

The concurrent time thing should be done away with. It's like buy one crime get the rest for free. More to the point, there is no penalty for any rape he committed after the first one. No penalty for raping any of those 5 other women -- it's just so skeevy.

Charges in AZ, CA and LA -- the guy is a triple threat.  I agree with those that say he got off easy, he'll be out in 4-5 years.  Hope he gets some real good lovin' in there.

He must serve all 9 and then he's on lifetime probabtion.

Still, a slap on the wrist in relation to what he did.

Good that he has to serve all 9 years.  I agree, still not nearly enough.    What a demented POS, because it cannot be about sex.  With his NFL career, money and TV job, it's not like he couldn't get more ass than a toilet seat without using drugs to commit rape.  What a ******* mook.  They're going to flip the ass equation on him now.

I understand that his sentence should probably be longer than a decade but it seriously shouldn't be life.

I never followed the story prior to this thread but I just read the article and its the usual bullsh*t with these women. Im really getting tired of hearing about women going to nightclubs, meeting a famous guy that they never met or knew prior to that night, getting invited to his hotel room for "drinks", actually going and then telling the story of being violated.

I look at this as women also being a victim of her own decisions, not solely a victim of some dumb ass heartless pervert. And I dont say that to be cruel, but sooner or later these type of women will have to accept the part they play in their own misfortune. Have some self respect and protect yourself. Stay the hell out of the clubs with your sexy skin tight pants, high heels and cake all over your face and stop acting like a groupie when a famous guy invites you to his hotel room for "drinks". I mean, this is elementary.

Some of these women are complete and total liars. See the Kobe and Duke lacrosse cases for reference. There's a school of thought that women can dress how they want and party how they want and not have to suffer any repercussions. OK, sure. No one "deserves" to be raped.  But let's say I go head off to Brownsville, or East NY at 3 am and get my ass kicked and robbed. Am I being afforded that same sympathy? Not a chance in hell. I will be called an idiot, and those calling me that will be 100% correct. Again, no one deserves to be raped. So let's put that to bed immediately. But having a little self awareness goes a long way.

Still, Sharper is a serial rapist. I totally get what you're saying, but these women are legit victims.

Thats exactly my point.

I think that everything that the women said could very well be true. Seems like Sharper is a f'ing retard. But where does the self responsibility kick in for these women? Don't put yourself in harms way is what im saying. Some women think its okay to dress up and play the part of a tramp then when sh*t like this happens socially we're told that we're not supposed to talk about that part.

There's a video, im not sure if you seen it but it went viral. Its a pretty women walking in NY for 10 hours and its supposed to show how she is being catcalled and harassed. The woman has skin tight clothes on showing every curve on her body.

Another woman makes a video completely covered with a long dress with the same title and she received no catcalls or what would be considered harassment.

This situation with Sharper and these women are similar in that sense. Women who are aware and have self respect wouldnt have even been in such a situation.
