We are signing a lot of vet jagdepth.  We did need a blocking TE prerry bad though.  Hopefully we draft one in the late rounds and can punt cumby.

Betting this guy is lower on the totem poll than Cumberland.  Who knows, maybe this coach can get something out of Cumberland.  He did well with Nelson and Chandler.  Maybe Amaro and Cumberland can succeed.

To respond to New York Mick, I played some TE in HS so know a little bit on the subject and even a pure blocking TE is much more of a threat to catch a pass than any OLineman. Therefore, if you lineup any Olineman at TE spots, it makes it too obvious that it is a running play making the defense put 8-10 men in the box in which you are lucky if your runner will even get back to the line of scrimmage.

There's a quote button you can use.

And not much different.

Hopefully wed can Cumberland instead of Sudfeld. I still believe in that kid's potential after seeing him at training camp last year.

I think you were trying to say cut Cumberland and keep Sudfeld.  If that's what you were trying to say, I'm in total agreement.  I think Sudfeld can still catch fire with the Jets, it just takes patience and the Jets so far were willing to be patient.  He showed some progress last year, hope Gailey and the TE's coach get the most out of him this year.

Cumberland is awful and should be cut.  I would MUCH rather have Sudfeld than Cumberland.  and, to me, it's not even close.

A blocking TE opens up the running game while still forcing the defense to adjust to him as a receiver.  We could definitely use this guy, particularly inside the ten yard line as he completes the "Jumbo" set while still offering a receiving option the defense must adjust for.  Of the most recent JAG signings this one strikes me as possibly the most impactful.  When the day comes that we have a franchise QB, then we can talk about elite receiving TE's.

I was so hyped on Sudfeld, boy was he a disappointment in 2014.

Yeah he was, but so was most of the offense. Only bright spots were Decker (when he was healthy), Amaro (on occasion), and Ivory. Aboushi did an admirable job, so maybe we have something there.

Cumberland has certainly been a disappointment, but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of love guys who don't see the field get around here.  Zach Sudfeld is only two years younger than Cumberland.  He has had every chance to see the field last year and caught 5 balls. 10 for his career with no TDs.  I am all for seeing if he pans out, but the idea he deserves something over Cumberland is a bit much.  Runs like Frankenstein, plays like Jane..
