Dwight Freeney

I'd really prefer to pick up Freeney and dump Jason Babin. Resigning Babin to another deal seemed pretty senseless to me. Babin is slow, old and can't play in coverage at all. Calvin Pace is on the brink of being in the same situation as well which is why I'm hoping we get a pass rusher in this draft- for me I think Leonard Williams would be the best player for our team (assuming he falls to us which probably won't happen)

I would rather have Freeney than Babin as well but I'm not sure if i see Freeney taking a bargain price one year deal.

L. Williams is interesting, don't think he will be there at 6 and he really projects to be a non edge rusher and we have coples, Wilkerson, richardson.

I'd prefer to have neither and get a younger player, but I am not sure why you would want Freeney.  He is older and seems to be more of a one trick pony.  Freeney isn't a guy you get because the incumbent can't play in coverage.  I don't think Babin looks particularly slow and he seemed to really pick it up as far as playing contain and not just wide rushing as the year went on.  I am not in love with him, but he is cheap and can be cut.  He signed a two year deal in 2014.  I know they picked up the option, but it isn't like they just went after the guy now.  No reason to bring in another geezer.

If we got Williams I think we could play some 4-3 Defense with mo/Sheldon on the outside, Harrison/Williams on the inside. Rotate Coples in either at OLB or DE and have Mo rotate at DE or DT as well. Have Harris at MLB with Demario at OLB.

Funny you say that, I have a feeling they are going to trade Wilkerson. I hope I am wrong.

I like him a lot and would only think about such a thing if they did indeed draft a guy like Williams.  The thing about Wilk is that his play has tailed off a bit at the end of the year at times and he is due a big pay day soon.  It would be foolish to deal him however if there is not immediate replacement.

Jets didn't resign Babin, the Jets had a team option, they excercised it, he's signed through the next season, but that doesn't mean he'll be on the team, he's on the team until somebody better beats him out.

When it's all said and done, I expect Babin, Pace and Colon all to not be a part of the 2015 Jets .  All of the contracts we gave out are not going to be a part of the 2015 Jets.

for 2016 I agree, but with all the cap space in 2015 why not have a veteran team?  That kind of experience and depth might be what puts us over the top for a wild card (and with this defense we can definitely win a playoff game if the cards fall right).  In 2016 the Jets might be involved in a QB sweepstakes for Rivers or someone, and will need to clear some room, but for this year I don't see the harm.

I agree, I just hope they dont trade him to move up for a certain QB.
