Rodney Harrison, slams Geno Smith and the Jets

NBC studio analyst Rodney Harrison doesn't think much of the New York Jets' headline-making offseason. He believes they're doomed to a five-win or six-win season as long as Geno Smith is the quarterback.

Co-hosting NBC's "Under Center" radio show on Friday, Harrison unloaded on the Jets and their third-year quarterback. He might not be the most objective guy in the room, considering he played for the Patriots, but his comments are so strong, they're worth a mention.

“You can say whatever you want about Darrelle Revis -- and I do believe he’s the best cornerback in the league -- but Darrelle Revis has not thrown a touchdown pass," Harrison said. "He’s not your quarterback. Yes, he can shut down a No. 1 receiver, but they need a quarterback. The Jets are, all of a sudden, on a high, thinking they’re going to win a championship. You’re not going to win a championship -- you’re not even going to make the playoffs -- because you don’t have a quarterback.

"If you go into the season and you’re expecting Geno Smith to improve, it’s not going to happen," he added. "He might get a little better, but when times get tough, when adversity hits, guess what he’s going to do? He’s going to fold just like the last couple years. I don’t believe in Geno Smith. I think this is a huge mistake. Hopefully in this draft, they try to address this quarterback situation, because if they go into the season with Geno Smith, they might win five or six games.”

You get the impression he doesn't like the Jets?

Not surprisingly, Harrison supported the Patriots' decision not to re-sign Revis, saying, "Bill [belichick], he’s not going to sell the farm for Darrelle Revis, because as good as Darrelle is, you know in a year or two maybe Darrelle is not going to be quite the same player he was this past season for the New England Patriots. So I believe that was the right move to make.”

Dirty, dirty player. What's his beef? Jets haven't said a word. Just trying to improve the team and they get bashed for doing so? Childish. More than half the NFL should just quit because they don't have a top 1-2 tier QB. Make it a 16 team league.

I agree 100% I've heard more than one "commentator" bash the Jets because they spent a lot of money and don't have a franchise quarterback. Guess what? There were no franchise quarterbacks available through free agency. Were the Jets just supposed to not spend any money (again) so we could see Fire Mac billboards? The Jets unquestionably improved the talent on the team while still allowing themselves to maintain some financial flexibility in the future.

I haven't heard anyone in the Jets organization be anything but humble so far.  No one has predicted anything as far as I know.

Exactly, where the hell is this coming from?

Damn Patriots and ex-Pats, you can already tell they are all taking the Revis defection personally, and it's driving them ******* nuts!!!!!

GOOD!

He was attacking Jet fans I believe.  Very classy for an analyst.  Analyst is a very loose definition for Rodney.  especially on such an awful show.  He is a hater.  Not exactly good quality for an analyst.

Whatever, Harrison is probably brain damaged from his career.  On top of that I just don't get

all the hate for Smith.  He's a 24 year old second year QB who has NFL talent but is inconsistent.

He hasn't raped anyone like Rapeisberger did in PIT, he hasn't killed anyone like Hernandez did

in NE.  He's going to get one more opportunity to prove he can be a starting QB in this league,

that's it.  Bowles and his staff are not "married" to him if he continues to be a turnover machine

he'll be benched

What is this "NFL talent" you speak of?  The trouble is, Geno has been consistent thus far -- and not in a good way.

Given that the only time the Jets won the SB I wasn't even close to being alive, and any recording of the game was probably on a reel-to-reel player, I've never watched a SB dvd. Do they come with commercials? If so, maybe this will be on there.

This is a couple months old and most have probably seen it, but it's the first time I've seen it. Pretty creative.

This is hilarious.

Here we have a guy claiming "Spygate" tarnishes the Patriots Superbowl titles.

What's funny about it is he's too stupid to understand that he won titles with the Jimmy Johnson Cowboys, and Jimmy Johnson said he video taped defensive signals during his two Superbowl titles.

So here we have someone so dumb he's tarnishing his own titles. We also have you, using him, as an attack on the Pats, not knowing how absurdly ridiculous it is.

RayRay:

It's also good to see you've resorted, with ESPN, to citing a guy who is known as completely unstable, who used to literally masturbate in front of his teammates in the locker room, to go after the Patriots with.

Can you get any sadder?

P.S. I missed you at JI. I'm sure your 2014 Superbowl game day thread meltdown was just glorious.

It's got to suck being a Pats fan, and having to be apart of a fan community with a superiority complex and insecurity over the legitimacy of their legacy.

P.S.  Nothing more glorious than watching another Pasterisk* scandal blow up right in front of the Pats, this time before the superbowl.

P.S.S.  Actually, it is equally as glorious watching the NFL try to squirm their way around having to dump on the Pats, delaying the results of the private investigation until after the draft.  Classic Patdell, class Kraft good ole boy network...

Still a dirty prick, but he does have a point.

It's awful. Every night I think, "Oh, a bunch of jealous trolls on the internet say stupid sh*t online that doesn't make any sense. Maybe I'll go to Gillette and take a photo with four Superbowl Lombardis to make me feel better."
