Brandt's Top players I think is always the most valuable rating of players, because he is first of all a tremendous evaluator of talent, but also because of his existing reputation with teams, and his work with the NFL to determine who goes in the draft, he is much more dialed into what the actual NFL GMs and scouts think about players so his rankings especially through the first and early second are very close to the value and position they have in the actual draft.

Quite a lot of surprises, notably how the pass rushers are much lower than what we have seen before outside of Fowler, QBs rated lower, and RBs and O-lineman rated much higher than the "guru" are saying on sports programs.

His rankings also lend more credence to the Gurley at 6 rumors we are hearing. He may not have him there by accident.

Too much Combine talk. Don't like his rankings either.

As I mentioned his ratings tend to reflect as much what he is hearing from GMs and actual NFL scouts as his own personal ratings, That is why they tend to be more reflective of the actual assessments of the players by NFL teams

Perriman and Geno can tear it up for 4 games a year THO:

10. Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF
Perriman (6-2, 212 pounds, 4.24 40 at pro day) is a strong receiver (18 reps in bench press). He had eight drops last season, but none in his last four games. In addition, 76 percent of his catches went for a first down, and he had nine touchdown receptions.

I highly doubt any GM/Scout would tell him how they have player so and so ranked.

look how low DGB is:

55. Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri
Green-Beckham (6-5 1/8, 237 pounds, 4.43 40) transferred to Oklahoma because of off-field problems but didn't play in 2014. He's talented and has very good upside but will need a lot of work.

Has him ranked 10th for WRs, below Conley (52) , Dorsett (40), Devon Smith (37), Agholor (29), Strong (21), Parker (11), Perriman (100), White (4) and Cooper (3).

No way.

It's terrible.  WR's, some RB's...thats it.

I'd change that to some pass rushers (Dupree, Beasley, Gregory), a WR (Cooper), a RB (Gurley), a couple CBs (Collins and Iko), a couple LBs (Dawson and McKinney), a few OL (I like Flowers, Scherff is quality, Humphries is solid, Erving should be a good C in the mold of Unger)....still, not many players I really like in this draft. You know how much THAT means!

Found a quote from Mayock in that DGB article saying "I watched every target in 2013.. He had no idea what he was doing out there. He tilted the field due to his weight, size and speed." Guess he isn't so nifty with his technique?

Well, I guess he would have liked my mock for Baltimore.  3 of the top 52.  I ended up with 6 guys on the list, but I had 6 of the top 136 picks.  Still, they were all picked after their rank.  I think Conley is rated lower around here than he should be.  He is physical and looks good.  Good character and he is a good an athlete as there is. Maybe I just didn't watch enough college ball.

One thing I get from reading this is that this is not a strong draft class.

So you're ignoring his introductory remarks on his own evaluation?

Every NFL draft is a little bit different. While this year's class probably doesn't have as many elite players at the top as we've seen in previous years, there will be a lot of very good players from the middle of the first round to the middle of the second, starting from about No. 12 on my Hot 100 rankings to about No. 50. That tier of players is probably a better group this year than it was last year. In particular, there's a very strong group of wide receivers and running backs this year.

In addition, I believe the top three players in my rankings each have the ability to be perennial Pro Bowl players.

From the Jets' point of view, with the exception of QB, this draft is well timed. They need to develop an elite WR and they need a pass-catching RB. They also obviously could use a pass rusher. This draft actually can supply all three. I would also argue that it can provide a better back-up QB than Simms to at least give the Jets some depth. A guy like Mannion would be a worthwhile project guy at a later pick.

LOL! What a coincidence.... that's the 14th ranked CB you reached for in 3rd round!

Weaknesses

Suffered a severe knee injury after the regular season in preparation for the College Football Playoff semifinal vs. Florida State. Unorthodox defender who rarely relies on technique. Gets in trouble trying to bait throws. Spends too much time trying to read quarterback and jump routes. Scouting community down on short cornerbacks. Prefers to play trail technique but lacks length speed to recover when challenged over the top against bigger targets. Missed more tackles in 2014 than in any other season. Can get wild and lose technique as a tackler. Tape from 2014 has scouts questioning his long speed.
