Who are your top 4 safe prospects

Leonard Williams

Amari Cooper

Brandon Scherff

Todd Gurley

Considering what our GM said about picking the BPA regardless of need, who would you pick from your group ?

From mine, the choice will come down to Scherff or Gurley .

Not sure I would describe him as safe.. In fact, I think that's probably the last word I'd use

Wouldn't La'el be considered "safe" if you believe that he's a career right tackle?

Not in my book. He has excellent potential, but his tape leaves much to be desired .

Seems like there's not too many folks who think much about the prospects in this draft.

When Healthy, and he will be heading into the regular season, name me 1 thing that Todd Gurley can't do at a high level ?

Please don't insult yourself by mentioning something defensively .

'When healthy' does not = safe, it's as simple as that.

Beasley is far from safe. NO OLB is safe. Too much projection. Does not mean Beasley won't be an All-Pro but you would not characterize him as safe.

So every single OLB prospect gets written off?  The draft is 100% projection.  There is an article floating around about how "unsafe" offensive line pics are becoming, but I still hear that as a reason to pick Schreff.

Sometimes a book is really defined by the words you can't see.

That is what they said about my evaluation.

Williams and cooper are probably the safest picks. The rest have more risk but some are still worth it. I'd put Gurley on that list as well as Fowler and the QBs. White just a tad below but in the mix. Scherrf isn't locked at a position yet so he's a bit lower to me.

If he was still not ready to participate I would tend to agree, but since the Kid will be ready for training camp, he's as safe a prospect as anyone in this draft. That kid would chance the entire dynamic of the Jets offense and to an extent, the team.

The one word that is most associated with Brandon Scherff is "Safe". You have a kid who is projected at LT, RT and OG and all at a high level. At least by me he is .

Who is projecting scherff as a LT besides you?

Last night I heard Tony Pauline say on that SportsNite show that the Jets should take Scherff, start him at OG and groom him to replace Brick Ferguson who's play is declining. His words, not mine. This is the exact plan I have in mind for the Kid since Ferguson can't be moved due to his contract before 2016 at the earliest .

What position does Ferguson play again ?

You don't have to like this player, but why so aggressively try to stop me from liking him. The Jets are going to do what they're going to do and I have no say in the matter. I just happen to think that this player can play LT in the NFL and play it at a high level. I am not of the opinion that an NFL LT has to be a pass blocking specialist.

^ ^ I think the Pauline thing was in the context of if, say, a Cooper has already been picked, but yeah the way he has the board falling Schreff is the Jets pick.

I think, in relation to the thread, the more interesting question is who are the "safest" picks in rounds 2 or 3, given we'll probably be picking pass-rusher, wide-reciever, O line or RB in those rounds and what the trade off is between going safe and swinging for the fences. Like if DGB is available in round 2 do you get him? (tbh I would not be surprised to see him fall out of the 2nd round altogether) Over say a McKinney or a Dorsett? What about if Ali Marpet is there and Nate Orchard in round 3? Who do you go with if say you've got Mariota and a WR in rounds one and two?

No I was legitimately asking because I haven't heard it anywhere. Interesting hearing it from Pauline

I have no evidence to back up what I am about to say except that our GM is a Disciple of Charlie Casserly .

I would venture to say that all of these drug busted players and Police blotter prospects will either be off the Jets draft board or place on the back burner.

I have heard Casserly say numerous times that when he was the GM, he let other teams deal with bad character prospects and he would move on to someone else.

Why is Schreff limited to guard?  If it is just arm length there is an article out there indicating that arm length for T is not the be all end all.   I had read some people that questioned his foot work/quickness for pass protection at tackle which is a- whole-nother issue.

I think the Jets are going to take the highest rated player on their board in every single round. I also think character is going to play an important role in who's where on that board.
