We have signed quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a contract extension through the 2020 season!

Dolphins are giving QB Ryan Tanehill a six-year, $96 million extension that includes $45 million guaranteed, per league source.

Russel  Wilson just sat down and took a very deep breathe.

At least when he gave big money to Pennington the dude had already won a playoff game. Tanny just crippled the Dolphins cap for half a decade for a QB who can't even break .500.

The Dolphins are one more Donkey Kong Suh helmet stomp away from being considered the worst financial decision-making team in the NFL.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks again Mike!

Smart move. You don't let Franchise QB's or Elite players get close to Free agency.

Tannehill is neither elite nor a "franchise" QB.

Dumb move for them.  You don't pretend you have a franchise QB when you don't have one.  See: Mark Sanchez.

How is this different from Tanny giving Mark Sanchez that brutally expensive extension that ruined the Jets cap situation for a few years?

Deja Vu all over again.

Tannehill is a JAG.

Who is a franchise QB?

The 26 year old who just threw for 4000 yards, 27 TD's with only 12 TD's with garbage at receiver and a sh*tty oline. He is getting better every year and is going to continue to get better as they improve his WR/Oline.

One of the better young QB's in the NFL.

Who has never won more than 8 games in a season and twice has come up awfully small with a playoff berth on the line. That must be one sh*tty franchise.

This move reminds me of the Bills giving Fitzpatrick a huge extension a few years ago before he really proved anything. I don't think it will end well for the Dolphins, but time will tell. Tannehill is young and does have some potential.

Peyton Manning blows in the playoffs minus one Superbowl run. He'll be a first ballot HOF.

Its a team sport - And Tannehill's team and supporting cast has just sucked. He has been surrounded by a garbage Oline, the Jonathon Martin drama, and Mike Wallace who doesn't run half his routes and still improved yearly with stud like numbers.

QB's can play well until 35. He is 26 and has only been a QB for 4-5 years. He's going to get better regardless and now Miami added Jordon Cameron and Parker in the draft.  This is absolutely a no brainer.

If Tannehill is on this team we are the favorites for the AL east this season. Perhaps its just because I'm a Jet fan but Ill take Tannehill or Russell Wilson all day. Besides Pennington's first big year we have never really had that QB that was good and perhaps could take that next step. Sanchez never had that upside.

What is it with you and mediocre QBs who play in the state of Florida?

66% completion, 4K+ yards,  27 TD's and 12 INT's....throw in an extra 300+ on the ground and a TD and that's mediocre?

He was a top 10 QB.  We have people (Jetsfan80) doing back flips for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Kids a good player.  You dont find good QB's easily.  This was a smart thing to do.

This is all true.  But I bet Russell Wilson read this and pooped a little.  LOL

:hand:

He's Pennington with a stronger arm. Ceiling is 1 and done in the postseason.

The Dolphins will regret this move.

You love making the comparison but I really dont get it.  He's literally nothing like Chad Pennington, at all.

Did Chad ever throw for 20 TD's in his career?  Oh wait, yeah, he did, one year....and then the Jets gave him the most ridiculous contract ever and he never threw 20 again.   :head:

You don't know that.

I can name 100 guys who people thought were gonna be better than they turned out.

Sounds familiar, huh?

The only difference is Pennington choked in the playoffs, not December like your boy Tannyhill.

Are the Dolphins taking a risk with this move?  Of course, but we should know better than anyone how hard is to find a QB and like others have said he's improved every year despite not having the best weapinzzz around him. He's a solid QB who you can definitely win with, I'd take him on the Jets in a heartbeat.
