Belichick Reportedly Never Believed Brady's Deflategate Story

Robert Kraft's decision not to appeal the New England Patriots' punishment for Deflategate left Tom Brady to fight the harsh discipline on his own.

According to the Boston Herald's Ron Borges, Brady has been on his own throughout the prolonged incident. Borges was a recent guest on CSNNE's "Sports Tonight" and was asked by host Michael Felger if there was a chance Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick thought Brady wasn't being transparent about his role in Deflategate. Borges responded with some pretty eye-opening comments.

"Belichick never believed (Brady's) story, from what I was told," Borges said, via CSNNE.com. "(Belichick) didn't tell it to me, but people who know him (told me).

"Because they all know. Why do you think all those retired quarterbacks, the Troy Aikmans of the world -- Troy Aikman is about as nice a guy as I've ever met in football -- nobody's backed (Brady). Nobody, not a single guy. Why do you think that is? Because they hate Brady? No. Because they're not stupid. They know nothing's done with those balls that the quarterback doesn't want done."

Actually, a number of QBs did back Brady -- including a couple of Hall of Famers.

Here's Belichick's statement from January in response to the initial Deflategate reports: "I think we all know that quarterbacks, kickers, specialists have certain preferences on footballs. They know a lot more about it than I do. They're a lot more sensitive to it than I am. I hear them comment on it from time to time, but I can tell you and they will tell you that there is never any sympathy whatsoever from me on that subject. Zero.

"Tom's personal preferences on his footballs are something he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide."

Maybe if the article wasnt written in Boston this may hold a shred of believability. But anyone whose watched a football life with Bill

Belichick knows that there's nothing related to gameplan that brady and bill don't talk about completely. I'm sure the sources close to Bill who commented anonymously were totally objective and had zero interest in protecting whatever image he has left.

Distancing.

They are throwing the golden boy under the bus to save the rest of their asses, and reputations. Good strategy, given that there's been a pretty strong reaction test on how teflon Brady's legacy is in light of all this. By all accounts, most of the media has basically said he's still great and doesn't need to cheat, so he's a perfect sacrificial lamb.

Ya I would find it hard to believe that Mumbles did not know about doctoring the football for the last 7 yrs. If he didnt know or did the Payton look away. It was evident the FRAUD needed to do this to play at Pro Bowl level

Check out this game in 2010

Tom Brady, Patriots bury Bears on snow-drenched field

Colin Cowherdfwiw and Charles Pierce both floated conspiracy theories basically saying that the Pats (Kraft and Belichick) are going to leave Brady out on an island with this because they know he's at the end of the line anyway, and they want to make sure the asterisk sticks to Brady's name and not the Pats.

Not that I have any love for Brady, but that would be a scumbag move by them if true. They'd be afterthoughts in this league if it weren't for him.

Plus I think NE fans would turn on them in a heartbeat if that ever because more than rumor.  Maybe our trolls can weigh in, but if forced to choose, I think they are much more enamored of Brady than Kraft or Bellicheat.

I think it would be a very typical Patriot*/Belicheat move, to be honest.  It's not as if they've never let go of a great player before his time was up, as they've done several times over the years.  It would be different with a QB, especially one of Brady's* level, but I would never be surprised by Belichick putting his own ego ahead of things like integrity or polite manners.

This BS story started with Borges, who is a convicted plagiarist, just so you know.

I'm sure Belichick would of stood up in front of the entire ignorant country and educated them on the Ideal Gas Law if he didn't believe Brady.

Convinced plagiarist covering your team and a convicted murderer drafted by your team.  You boys sure keep things on the up and up, no way would anyone in that organization lie...

Of course Belicheat never believed Brady...  Belicheat was fully aware it was going on. It was his or Ernie Adams idea to do this to cut down on fumbles which is something of a pet peeve for Belicheat.

Yes, the softer ball might be easier for CryBrady to throw and his receivers to catch, but this whole focus on CryBrady is a giant red herring to protect Belicheat!

You're still going off of Bill's enlightening science lecture? I figured you'd be onto the GOB defense at this point

True. But legacies are involved here and it wouldn't be surprising if true, but I doubt Belicheat would go for it. He knows what Brady has meant to the team and he will probably retire a year after Brady does.

There might be something to this. The last few years, Belicheat has been setting it up so that his son could run the Cheatriots.

He's a classy guy and he holds his players accountable unlike the goofball Rex. Least that's what espn told me until January 2015

The first part of that statement is inaccurate. The second part is entirely accurate. As a disciplinarian and football coach, BB is far better than Rex.

What's also accurate is in their first 6 years as HC Rex made the playoffs and had a better record..LOL

So even if he copied someones words, or even was convicted somewhere in your mind, that makes him wrong here how exactly?

He shouldn't be believed because of this but anyone associated with the Pats, who were all convicted of cheating with Spygate (just so you know) are now to be trusted and believed?

Love Patsland.
