BurnleyJet
In a New York minuate.. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000494031/article/jets-dc-dee-milliner-to-compete-for-roster-spot Things change fast in the NFL. Just ask Dee Milliner. A year ago, Milliner was entrenched atop the Jets depth chart and telling the media he was the best cornerback in the NFL. One torn Achilles tendon and an offseason of heavy Jets spending later and Milliner's Jets future is suddenly in doubt. "When you look at Dee coming in, you see a guy still kind of working off of an injury, trying to get himself to 100 percent," defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers said last week, according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini. "But as we looked at him, we expect Dee to compete for a position on the roster like everyone else. This was a top-10 pick, and we think he has a lot of ability and we expect him to compete." Milliner -- now seven months removed from his injury -- was very limited in OTAs last week and is no lock to be ready for training camp. When he gets back on the field he'll be met by a full house in the secondary. The Jets signed Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine in free agency. Darrin Walls, Marcus Williams and 2014 third-round pick Dexter McDougle are also in the mix. "It's going to be some tough decisions," Rodgers said. "It's a lot of good football players on the back end." Cimini speculated that the Jets could place Milliner on the physically-unable-to-perform list to start the season, a move that would keep him out of action for the first six weeks of the regular season. That's a more likely scenario that Milliner losing his job. With two years of guaranteed money left on his deal, the Jets should continue to seek return on investment for the former No. 9 overall pick. Joe Jets fan
Lmao. So a rookie who wins dpom and looks like a very good player his last 4 games gets hurt second year and he has to earn a roster spot. The third year QBs that's has not gotten hurt and suck is named starter? Starting to think maybe new guys might be in over there heads.

Hill demonstrated way more suckitude than Millner has. He had a not-great rookie year - but not nearly bad enough to get cut. Then last year he essentially didn't play. Too soon to tell what he'll end up.

That's a little bit harsh this early on, but it's definitely a head-scratcher. One of the reasons I was happy to see Rex go was because I thought the new staff would bring in a vet QB and make Geno earn the job.

FloridaJetsFan
It's all motivational hullabaloo. Parcellian Jedi Mind Tricks. Right. Any insinuation that our coaching staff doesn't know what they're doing is dumb. Let's see what happens AFTER they've played a game, not before. jetscrazey
Milliner would have to really crap the bed to not make the roster. He may need to play special teams to pull his weight, though.
Bronx Jet01
Lol. This kid was great the last 3 games as a rookie . Had a rough outing vs Rodgers( who doesn't ?) in year 2 before getting hurt and now we should cut him. slats
He's making the roster. If they have any doubts about him, they'll put him on the PUP list to open the year. But they won't be throwing away his guaranteed money without looking at him fully recovered.
JetsFanInDenver
It would be foolish to let him go. So i would not expect him to go anywhere.
JetBlue
Of course he has to compete for a job; why is that even news? We just added 3 veteran corners and have holdovers Williams, Walls and MacDougle coming off an injury. The bottom line is if he is healthy odds are he will beat out Walls or Williams. If he is not, he will probably go on the PUP.

They are pushing him to get ready and get his ass out on the field and show something. I seriously doubt they actually cut him... Now, if he gets hurt for a long stretch (no matter how good he played) I can see him being cut next year.
kmnj
he sucks-it was a terrible pick when made and it is terrible now-guy had a ton of surgeries on college so ofcourse in the pros where they are bigger faster and stronger he was bound to get hurt

bostonmajet
People love to throw around extreme tags; the guy is either a beast or hot garbage. Maybe he is injury prone and his career will never take off, but terrible, garbage; i don't thinks so. At least not yet. 1. There is only one Revis and even Revis gets beat for a completion or even a TD once in a blue moon. You cannot compare a good/very good CB with Revis - the bar is too high 2. Rex is very hard on CBs; he likes to isolate them; no help; most/many corners don't play as much man-to-man without safety help - let alone as a rookie 3. He had 12 mediocre to bad games, but put together 2-3 brilliant games at the end of his rookie season (surprisingly after he got some old be good safety help) 4. Clearly he needs to improve his conditioning/stretching or tape review (isn't it funny we still call it tape) - who better to learn from than Revis 5. He is too cheap to throw away (especially if his salary is guaranteed); they can even put him on IR if he isn't right to save the roster spot. Revis is the Luck/Manning of CBs; very few will look good compared to him. Very few rookies will play as well as he did as a rookie, and even fewer are going to start strong be isolated against other teams' #1 receiver; remember all the rules favor the WR and he was forced to cover some good veteran WRs without help early on. Can he turn out to be a bust - especially if he can't get healthy - of course. But it is way to soon to throw him away, or to call him 'horrible' IMO.
