Typical Jets....

OK, just a little fun here....  I am not being serious although I am actually being a teeny weeny bit serious. Just a little New York Jets gallows humor to help us make it through the wait until training camp.

So here is the proposition.  The current roster is as deep and talented as any NYJ roster that I can remember, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.  I actually think that other teams will be looking closely at NYJ players who are cut or who we try to stash on our practice squad.

OK, so I think you know where this is going here.... Please come up with a player who for one reason or another we might lose because of the need to get down to the final 53 and who then turns out to catch on and be a decent player for another team.

I'll start.

Marcus Williams

With all the depth at corner we have this year one of them will either be cut or thrown onto the practice squad, if we try to slip this guy onto our practice squad which is a possibility with our current depth and remembering that he was a rookie last year with only a few games under his belt with the Jets then I have a feeling some team will be very happy to scoop him up and put him on their active roster.

This is a really good post. He could end up in Buffalo. :)

It's too early to point out a player who we might want to cut because the training camp has not even started.

But at CB and DL we might lose someone that other teams could swoop down on.

I think Chicago might be interested in who we let go from our DL position.

Marcus Williams will make this team. The Jets will hold 6 to 7 CB's, either way Williams was the best CB on the team last year. I cant name 6 better corners than Williams on the team right now. He was a great find last year.

I hope your right, that kid really stood out for an undrafted free agent and I have a feeling he will develop nicely in the NFL.

Chris Owusu

Yeah I was thinking Owusu too. If he gets cut I could see him develop somewhere else.....or if we try to stash him on the PS I could see another team sign him like Miami did with Spadola.

Edit: My mistake.....I meant Quincy Enuwa (get those two mixed up, although I like Owusu too). I like what I saw on his college tape....if he doesn't make out roster I could see him making another teams. Hopefully at worst we can slide him onto the practice squad.....I think he should be able to contribute on Special Teams too, he laid a few guys out when he was in college on INTs and Fumbles.

Enunwa would be my choice as well but I think he makes it. Too good of a special teamer and too much upside as a WR.

I'd rather see Dee end up somewhere else and Williams stay. He at least showed he looks like he can play at this level.

....I would almost agree with what you just said however; Dee showed signs he could play at the top tier of the position, potential was never Dees problem he has just been injury prone. Williams showed some great things and I would love to keep him on the roster but I think a healthy Dee has more potential still than Williams, if it were up to me they both stay on the roster as they play a position that you can never have to much depth in and if all of our corners end up being good and we end up not being able to pay them all we can always get compensatory picks off one of them as they hit free agency.
