TNJet
I really like both of these guys. They were both described as players that should have been drafted. I watched highlight tape of both of them and they both look like they have what it takes to play at the next level. Taiwan was described as a Davis Harris type player I'll take that any day again. And Saxton to me looks freakishly athletic and ran a 4.5 40 at the combine. He reminds me of a Keller/Cumberland mix. Do you think they both have a good chance of making our roster? We need the depth at both positions, especially after Sudfeld went down. And the Maneri guy won't make the team....
Dcat
The Turn On the Jets article about Saxton by Joe Caporoso called him "a poor man's Cumberland". http://turnonthejets.com/2015/06/new-york-jets-udfa-breakdown-te-wes-saxton/#more-27437 Oh my God! Considering the "rich man's" Cumberland is little more than hot garbage, I shudder to think of what a "poor man's Cumberland" would be like. But his hands were hewn from granite and he couldn't run a proper route if someone laid bread crumbs down first.

Yes, he also said Cumberland was bigger and faster and that Saxton was very raw. I have to wait and see him for myself but so far I am not overly impressed. T0mShane
Both will be on the practice squad. Saxton has a lot of talent, but doesn't know what he's doing, and Jones needs to add weight if he hopes to survive inside.

Losing Sudfeld and Gailey's offense may open a slot for Saxton and Jones could make the squad on specials. They loaded up on ILB vet FAs which seemed strange. In like a 3 day period they signed Joe Mayes, Lattimore and Erin Henderson. I'm not sure if they will carry 3 or 4 ILBs, but if they carry 4 and Jones is good on specials he has a shot. I think it may be more likely that he ends up fighting for a spot with Rontez Miles as extra defender/designated special teamer.

Lattimore is supposedly really good on specials, and Henderson was a really solid player before he hit the bottle. I think Jones will have to be Ray Lewis in preseason to have any chance. As for Saxton, I guess it depends if they feel like having three TEs who can't block on the roster.

#27TheDominator
Funny thing is that Jones combine size was almost identical to Harris. Where they differed was speed. Yup, you guessed it. Harris is blazing fast, comparably.
