Jets WR coverage by opposing Defenses in this scenario?

Just for shats and giggles: I understand some of these guys may be beaten out etc, but for arguments sake:

Assumption for this conversation: 3rd down and between 8-15 yards.

Five WRs/pass catchers on field:

1- Marshall - coverage=

2- Decker - coverage=

3- Kerley or Smith - coverage=

4- TE Amaro - coverage=

5- unnamed pass catching RB - coverage=

Who on opposing defense covers who, aka, CB, safety, LBs etc. List if you think someone gets double coverage also. Thanks.

off season, fun to goof around and strategize ;)

Assumption for this conversation: 3rd down and between 8-15 yards.

Option A:

Six WRs/pass catchers on field:

1- Marshall - coverage=

2- Decker - coverage=

3- Kerley - coverage=

4 -Smith - coverage=

5- TE Amaro - coverage=

6- unnamed pass catching RB - coverage=

For fun, we can also surmise Jets keep extra blocker in and 5 receivers on field in same scenario:

Option B:

Five WRs/pass catchers on field:

1- Marshall - coverage=

2- Decker - coverage=

3 -Smith or Kerley - coverage=

4- TE Amaro - coverage=

5- unnamed pass catching RB - coverage=

Option A isn't an option. you have to have at least five guys on the line of scrimmage. And the qb ( 6) which is only 5 players that can go out for pass pattern.

Here is how the Raiders would probably cover option B. 3 Wr sets , a Te, and Rb they would play a four man line of Lde Khalil Mack lDt Justin Tuck Rdt Mario Edwards jr Rde Max Valles / Benson Mayowa, or Neiron Ball

They would play cover 3 defense on the outside Seattle bump and bail technique. the 6'4 Brandon Marshall would get the 6'3 215 pound Keith McGill( 33 1/4 arm length). Tj Carrie 6'0 208 41' vertical would get Eric Decker 6'3 215 again bump and bail technique. fs Nate Allen 6' 210 would be in deep coverage. Dj Hayden 5'11 195 would get Kerley in the slot . Ss Charles Woodson close to line of scrimmage would get Te Jace Amaro. Wlb Malcolm Smith 6'1 230 would pick up the unnamed Rb. Another lb Ray Ray Armstrong or a Safety Ras Dowling 6'1 198 / Jonathan Dowling 6'3 190 could double Decker.

jets play with four Wr set and a Te the Raiders would play it this way. Defense line would remain the same. again 6'3 215 Keith McGill would pick up 6'4 230 Brandon Marshall bump and bail, with Neiko Thorpe 6'2 190 on Eric Decker6'3 215 again Bump and bail technique , Fs Nate Allen 6' 210 in Deep coverage Cb Tj Carrie would play inside versus Devin Smith. Dj Hayden would pick up Kerley inside. Ss Charles Woodson would get Te Amaro. Lb Malcolm smith or again Ras Dowling / Jonathan Dowling would help on one of the Jets Wr.

This is actually the one year that I think we can look forward to some favorable matchup schemes.  I think the the 11 personnel grouping is the most used out of Gailey's system with 1 RB and 1 TE, and it should provide a really tough matchup for the defense.

Marshall is very hard to cover one on one unless we're talking Revis type CB opposite him.

Decker is a very good No. 2 WR, and also a one on one nightmare.

I think Devin Smith is better than Kerley, so he can be the No. 3, and provide speed over the top, occupying the safety as well.

Amaro is a good pass catching TE (atleast he's good at getting open, catching is yet to proven I guess) that can create matchup problems.

And then you factor in Ivory, who is excellent at breaking tackles and yards after contact.

And a mobile QB in Geno that you also have to factor in.

I was reading that article, and one of the plays that makes the Seahawks really hard to defend against is the triple option, with the third option being a pass instead of a pitch.  We have all the tools to execute that play (actually better WRs) and coming out of the spread, would be a very hard play to defend because there are too many guys that can win one on one matchups.  A fake to Ivory to mislead the main pass rusher, and you can have Geno run to the edge with the option to run or pass depending on how the defense reacts.  That's a nightmare for defensive coordinators, so then they are going to have to come up with schemes in which they have to take a poison option and taking out certain guys and just hope the others won't beat you.  Most likely, atleast at the start, that should mean single coverage for Devin Smith and running lanes for Geno and wait to see if they can take advantage.  I don't think in the last 5 years, we've had a team where the opposing team just couldn't line up man coverage, load the box, and have to worry about anything.

Cute. How many games do the Raiders win?

Anything less than eight games is a failure. everything comes down to the young Cb's . Raider management believes in the young kids at Cb.( everyone they added fits that Seattle type of cb that defense looks for) Let's see if that was wise decision , or one they regret .

If you line up like this we'll run the ball down your throats all day long!!!! I hope they play that way..........

I don't think you read the thread right. The scenario laid out was 3 down plus 5 yards.( obvious passing down). Of course they would play a different defense line on the run downs.

It's going to be very hard to run against the defense. In coverage you must understand the three spots on defense( both outside Cb's and the fs ) all are responsible for deep coverage. sort of press coverage and zone coverage mix in,. outside Cb's are responsive for deep coverage from the hash mark to the sideline , all the way toward the end zone, The Fs has the middle deep coverage. the Ss plays close to line of scrimmage like a lb. The lb's and the Ss aren't as rigid as those other three other positions in coverage, as they could play man or zone.( could be a mixture)

Sounds like a great debate on a Raiders forum.(:

the thread is how opposing team would match up against Jet offensive weapons. I gave you what I see Raiders defense would do to matchup. ( from Raider fan perspective) If your football knowledge isn't up to par, maybe you should stay out of big boy discussion or read another thread that's more your speed,

Which is fine but you tend to incorporate the raiders in every thread so your point is honestly irrelevant. As a raider fan you should know a lot about speed and irrelevance though.

That's not true go look at my post and the topics. ( go ahead and show me where I incorporated the Raiders in every discussion- should be easy to prove your case. your not going to be to because I keep on topic, and only discuss Raiders when it's relevant.( prove my point or someone asks me a question)
