I went, I want to say 9 years ago. Fun place for the family. We actually stayed in the Hilton that literally was right next to falls, the room had a huge wall to wall window and we watched the falls all night as they lit up the water with all different kinds of colors. The boardwalk was really fun too. Enjoy!

Thanks.

We are staying at the Great Wolfe Lodge. Looking forward to it. Working too much these days, it will be nice to get away!

When I 1st read your thread title, it reminded me of that one poster who would always post a new thread a week saying

"Going to Fiji, Bitch#s"

Every week it would be some different exotic location or Event! I forget if it was JI or JN? Pretty Funny.

Have fun on the "Maid of the Mist".... Say "Hi" to Rex for me.

I will be gone next week, vacation with my family. I fully expect everyone here will behave while I am gone. :)

We did this two years ago and had a great time.

On our way up, we went through Cooperstown and saw the Hall of Fame, went boating in Lake Otesaga. On the way back, we went through Cortland and saw the Jets play a nighttime scrimmage. Make sure you use the long drives to/from our area to see great NY sites along the way.

Are you staying on the Canadian side or the American side? Maid Of The Mist is a must-do, we had a blast. Cracker Barrel truck stop lunch on the thruway is always a fan favorite.

I was at the falls a month or so ago as a pit stop, didn't have the right paper work for our dog to go to the Canadian side, and our daughter is too young to go down by the actual crashing water for most of the attractions... so we ended up spending the afternoon in the state park. It was nice. Enjoy yourselves!

Speaking of the the hampur, what's going on over there?  I looked in a few weeks ago and there were like 7-8 people total on the site.

I think Ragu is a hero for starting that site.  But maybe the interest has waned?  Hope it doesn't fold.

I don't know, tbh. I rarely get over there myself.

I am actually really bummed that the Jets aren't going to Cortland anymore. I know it's a hike to get to, but it was pretty cool going to this little town in the middle of nowhere, and seeing it all decked out in Green and White.

Thanks for the response.  Maybe traffic picks up once the season starts.  Enjoy the Fourth.

I'm sure it will. The last time I looked, it seemed that people aren't going there to talk about football, so it really puts the redundancy of the same jokes being played out every day for lulz front-and-center. Given the predictability, after a while, people will start to skip a day here and there... of course, this is just a hypothesis.

Yep...made the drive up from Philly last year and really enjoyed it.  Cool enough little place to spend a couple days.

Staying at the indoor water park on the Canadian side. I was thinking about Cooperstown on the way up....trying to get some family support on that. Right now I am losing with 3 votes against and 2 for it. I need to buy one of the kids and swing their vote over to my side. :)

Clark Griswold took control of family vacations.  He made the rules.  Kids don't get votes, wth!?  Man up, it's Cooperstown!  How many times when you were a kid did you get dragged places you didn't want to go?  FFS I was dragged to the Dirty Dancing concert at PNC when I was a kid.  I had no say in it.  My father was gonna get some ass from his girlfriend at the time for it and therefore I had to go.  I didn't get a vote.  In fact, your wife doesn't get a vote either.  Now crack open a Miller High Life and take back your manhood and tell those ****ers they're going to Cooperstown and they're gonna like it!

I live about 20 minutes from Niagara Falls on Grand Island which is between Buffalo and Niagara Falls.  If you and your family want to meet a local (me) for lunch,  pm me and I will give you my phone number.

When Ragu launched it, I was checking it periodically to see if sooth and some others had reacted.  Not to be disparaging, but after a while it seemed like the majority of the threads/posts were by a small core group.  So, you're right about the gags getting tired after a while.

Sorry, Max.  Didn't mean to derail.  Just saw the hamper reference.  No more from me.

Have an awesome time with your family.

I'm just busting. This is already an off topic thread so no worries, lol.

Make sure they know that the baseball Hall of Fame itself is only a very small part of what you can experience in Cooperstown. There's a beautiful lake on which you can rent boats, there's a charming town filled with sports memorabilia and restaurants, and you are only 30 minutes from Howe Caverns which is a pretty cool experience as well.

Besides, spending a night in Cooperstown takes an 8 hour drive and breaks it up into two 4 hour drives which should make everyone happy.
