The Blue Jays have agreed to acquire star lefty David Price from the Tigers, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports on Twitter. The marquee piece coming in return is top Blue Jays prospect Daniel Norris, Heyman adds. Outfielder Anthony Alford is “likely” included as well, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets. As always, the deal is pending medicals.

Gotta say, it's pretty hilarious how Upton is trolling us all with the fake hugs.

Not content to give the entire baseball world just one non-waiver Trade Deadline head fake, Justin Upton and the Padres were back at it again on Thursday. But this time, rather than being pulled from the game, Upton decided to confound the #HugWatch movement completely -- giving out fake pre-trade hugs to his teammates in the dugout, just for kicks:

I don't think they ever really wanted him. If you were going to trade assets for Cole Hamels, then why not just re-sign Jon Lester? Made no sense.

The extremely obvious answer to this question is the 3 years and ~80 million difference in contracts between two players born two weeks apart. Red Sox lacked the prospects to be taken so seriously for Hamels.

The Red Sox do not lack for prospects. They have one of the top farm systems in the game. They didn't get Hamels because they're in last place.

Press

ATLANTA -- The Braves reacquired outfielder Michael Bourn in a trade Friday with Cleveland, also landing outfielder Nick Swisher while dealing third baseman Chris Johnson to the Indians in a swap of disappointing players.

Cleveland sent cash to the Braves as well, helping cover the hefty contracts of the two players coming to Atlanta.

Bourn was acquired by the Braves at the 2011 trade deadline and made the All-Star Game the following season before signing with Cleveland as a free agent. The 32-year-old is hitting .246 with 19 RBIs and 13 stolen bases
