NFL Cancels Pre Season Live

Recommended Posts

The only package the NFL offered that, IMO was worth it, has been cancelled.  It used to be, for out of towners, you could watch all 4 preseason games for $20.   Loved it.

Now they are going to require you to purchase the entire NFL game pass package to see the pre-season games.   I don't need, or want, most of the crap on it.

As yet they haven't even determined how much it will cost.  Guess they are waiting to see how many suckers they can trap before they stick it to us.

I wonder how long it will be before the NFL kills the golden goose with greed and mismanagement at the top.

If anyone knows a way to get preseason games on the computer with out going to those virus ridden sites, please post it here.

Thank you

Had this service last year for preseason only, $20.00.  Here's a number to call.  #407-936-0867.  Also game rewind/nfl.com for updates.

I called to make sure my credit card would not be automatically charged for this preseason.

thanks for the heads up flgreen

Just to clarify because I'm confused.  I'm assuming you are out of the USA, gamepass season is not available for USA, only outside USA.  If you are out of town wouldn't you actually require Jets regular season games?  Gamepass also outside the USA offers single team packages, you get all preseason + single teams regular season games + NFL network and I think redzone too?

I think its well worth the price of admission.  Last year I bought the 20 dollar preseason and then the regular season package before knowing that the preseason games were included with the regular season.  Also to buy the full NFL gamepass package, all games all teams is actually less than 200 dollars if you use a vpn and tunnel into UK to buy gamepass internationally.

No I'm in Florida.  This is a new package they are calling "Domestic" game pass.  I was in contact with them today, and as yet they don't even have a price for it.

The $20 preseason game package was great.   I usually watch regular season games at a bar that has a lot of Jets fans in it, but I like to watch the pre-season games at home, and a lot of bars don't offer the pre-season games.

Just another way to choke the last penny out o people.

I feel you. I never purchased Pre-season live but I always purchase NFL Game Rewind. Im now living outside of the country and in Europe they have a package called NFL Game Pass. Its similar to Game Rewind except you can watch the games live instead of waiting 24 hours which is great. Now, Game Rewind "season plus" is $25 to watch every team for the entire year. Whats the price the Europe package you ask? 245 Euros!!!!!! If you just want to watch your own team you can only watch preseason and reg. season (no playoffs, SB) for the cool low price of 155 Euros!!!!

I was pissed for like a second, then I figured out a way to get around that. I purchased a VPN program in order to mask my IP and have it reflect as a US IP and viola! Saved myself 200 Euros though I wont be able to see the games live. What I will do is go to firstrowsports which can give problems with buggy sites (Windows PC's) unless you have a Mac and I'll watch my Jets games live there, I'll use the package to watch the rest of the games throughout the week.

I did cried out for like 5 minutes until I realized that a VPN could solve that financial burden. The NFL is really killing Europe followers with that price.

Here is a quote directly from the NFL. They are offering a US version of NFL Game Pass:

Nice!! About damn time they are doing it!  Sorry they are taking away the preseason pass, but this puts their offering in line with the rest of the world offering. Previously they offered Preseason because contractually there were only allowed to offer preseason, thus the reason for a preseason only package.

I'm curious to see what their prices will be for NA.  I'd imagine they want to compete with NFL sunday ticket, which I think is north of 300bucks?  Please correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't had it in ages.  I just renewed my gamepass through the UK for 179.99 euro (200 dollars) That includes all games, NFL network and redzone as well as game rewinds and previous seasons game archives.

EDIT: Nvm, this doesn't include live regular season games.

I can't check at the moment as I can't access my vpn, but I checked my emails and I renewed full season all teams for 200 dollars at the beginning of July.  I think that is a very fair price, especially for the quality of the streams.  I'd easily lose 200 bucks the first quarter of a season at a bar.

I guess that price must be for returning members. New members is 245 for the whole package, 180 to watch all teams for just pre and reg season and 155 to watch your fav team just pre and reg season.

I love the style of packaging here given that you can watch the games live. I hated that you couldnt do it in the states. There were times where I wasnt home or near a TV and I wanted to watch on my phone or computer but for obvious reasons couldnt. I ended up going to those websites that though provide the game, have inconsistent connections and as you may know the quality of video in comparison is terrible.

Do you know if the Domestic game pass will include both preseason and regular season games? I pay the freight for Sunday Ticket and have always wondered why preseason was not included. And no, I don't think it's because preseason games are not on Sundays. :eusa_angel:

OK I found the email, guys this doesn't include regular season live games.  Here is the email about combining preseason live and game rewind:

*NFL Game Pass includes live access to most preseason games. Such live preseason games do not include all nationally-broadcast preseason games and any preseason games televised in a user’s local market. Preseason games that are not available live in NFL Game Pass will be made available on-demand in the NFL Game Pass archives shortly after the conclusion of the original telecast. NFL Game Pass does not include live regular season, playoff, and Super Bowl game broadcasts. Access to these games is available within NFL Game Pass on an on-demand basis in the NFL Game Pass archives after such games have aired on broadcast television. Sunday morning and afternoon games (9:30am ET, 1pm ET & 4pm ET), and Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday and Saturday NFL games are available following the conclusion of the applicable game telecast. NFL Game Pass is unavailable during the telecast of the Super Bowl. Some 2009 regular season games are not available. NFL Game Pass is only available to users within the United States, Bermuda, Antigua, the Bahamas, any U.S. territories, possessions and commonwealths (including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands), and Mexico.
** Some live Preseason games may not be available live on phones, but will always be available in the archives.

Yeah since moving to New England I've been using gamepass for 3 years now and couldn't be happier.  I know some people might balk at the price but I find it worth it.  I used to use firstrowsports, but the laggyness, buffering as soon as the ball is hiked and the poor quality was just too much for me to enjoy.

The prices seem right, looks like i have the 180 package.  Seemed to me that covered everything.  Also if anyone is looking to try this out, if you get a vpn, do some currency conversions and find the weakest currency to the us dollar.  Then vpn to that country and pay with that currency.  That is how you get the lowest US dollar rate.  They take US dollars on the site but the US dollar rate is fixed and doesn't change for the last 3 years.

Check out my post under yours, it doesn't inlcude live reg season games but instead the game rewind that goes up after the live broadcast.

The only way to get Live regular season games over gamepass is to use a VPN and buy the subscription from another country.  If anyone wants assistance with this pm me and I'll be glad to help you out.

It probably did destroy his computer unfortunately. I only use my Mac to go on the website and I still use macscan in case. Any Windows based computer you might as well forget about it. Its worse than the porn sites lol.

My opinion, if you feel that strongly about it dont buy it. The only voice you have is the voice of your wallet bro and if you feel like they're asking too much then either try to find a friend to split the cost with or if you have a Mac go back to first row.

I must say that I have a new respect for the US pricing now that I've seen the price here in Germany. 250 is just ridiculous. Its 10X's the price in the states. If I couldnt figure out a way to get the package then I wouldnt have dropped 250. I have better ways to spend my money.

I also noticed here in Germany that you cant pay for anything via debit card. You MUST have a credit card in order to make online or some in store card purchases. I dont believe in credit cards so in the states I would use my own money via my account. I tried to make a purchase here with my bank card and realized that I couldnt. Im not sure if that holds true with the NFL website but I found that pretty crazy.

I unfortunately found that out when I landed here and attempted to use my debit card to rent a car at the airport. I was immediately met with "if you dont have a credit card you cant make the purchase and we dont take cash here". Crazy! lol.

In Florida, most of the Jets' games, that don't conflict with the Fish, are usually televised.  Plus the prime time games about half the games are on TV.

I still usually go out and watch the games  I like to watch with a lot of other Jets' fans.   $10-11 for a bucket of beer, $0.35 hot wings, for $20 food and drink, I'm good to go.   Lot of fun.

All I need is the 4 preseason games which aren't always televised in bars.  It's just very annoying for the NFL to pull a good deal off, and force me to buy something I don't want.   If i was in Europe, or Idaho I would look at it differently I'm sure

Yeah

I'm probably going to pay for it in the end, but my price just went up from $5 a game to around $50 for the preseason, and a bunch of other stuff I don't want.  I'm sure there are a lot of displaced Jets'  fans that were using the old  perseason, and now they are pulling the ole bait and switch on them.  Just very annoying.

Kind of like the old "PSL's are and investment" crap.   In the end in came down to if you can afford the PSL, you buy it, if not, you don't.  There used to be a waiting list of about 10,000 people for Jets' tickets, Now they are begging people to buy.

Just think it's a matter of time before people find something else to do on Sunday if the greed continues, and it will

The prices have gone crazy over the years. I remember watching those crappy streams for years. As soon as I took notice of the gamepass I signed up immediately. I can remember not even paying much more then 200€ for the full season package a couple of years ago. Since I got what they called "ESPN America", I only signed up for the regular season package. Now that they cancelled ESPN America two years ago I thought about signing up for the Plus package again, but the prices are crazy right now. The last years they offered to pay in 4 monthly rates, but this year they cancelled the option and you now have to pay the full price immediately (pretty much for a student like me). Cool thing is, since I've been a recent subscriber I get a discounted rate, which saves me 20€. I do not even want to know what I'll have to pay when the regular season is over and I have to get the package for the playoffs + SuperBowl. Can remember been around 60€, but I think it it will raise up to 100€ this year just for the upgrade. Don't know how they will expand popularity in Europe with prices like this, but it seems enough people (like me) still purchasing the gamepass lol

I would encourage everyone that is pissed like me to email them at

preseasonlive.support@nfl.com

and also tweet to the NFL @NFL with hashtag #NFLTrainingCamp  and #NYJets and maybe we can bring some attention to it.

I already have.

Certainly worth a try, but I'm sure they understand they are going to lose a lot of subscribers by doing this.  They have done the math and also understand that a lot of suckers like me will buy in anyhow, and the mark up on the new package will more then cover the loss.

Just think it's bad business pissing off your best customers.  Lets face it, a person who is willing to buy a reasonable pre-season package is a good client.

All we need is one newspaper guy to notice it and retweet it and it could get some momentum. They could easily then offer a preseason "trial: of Game Pass and make everyone happy.

If they were trying to market it fairly, that would be an excellent thing for them  to do.  They are trying to trap a % of the people who have been using the Pre-season package, and force them to buy the dramaticly more expensive package.

I wonder how long it will be before the NFL kills the golden goose with greed and mismanagement at the top.

If anyone knows a way to get preseason games on the computer with out going to those virus ridden sites, please post it here.

Thank you

It is disgusting!!!!

The NFL will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs (i.e. the love of the fans) with this disgusting display of never ending greed!!
