Jetfan13
Standout Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson will head into training camp without a new contract. But he will not hold out in an effort to receive a new deal, the New York Post's Brian Costello reports. Wilkerson turned out for last month's mandatory minicamp after skipping OTAs. He would not answer a question about whether he would hold out for training camp while talking with reporters there. The 25-year-old is heading into the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. He will earn $6.969 million in 2015 under his current deal, slightly more than he's earned through his first four seasons in the NFL. However, Wilkerson has not received the multi-year extension he seeks. Contemporaries from the 2011 draft class like the Steelers' Cameron Heyward, Saints' Cameron Jordan and Chargers' Corey Liuget all inked lucrative extensions over the last few months. “I am frustrated, yeah,” Wilkerson said in June, via Costello. “I thought that a deal would be made, but at the end of the day, it’s a business and these things take time.” A new deal is not imminent for Wilkerson as the club and his agent do not agree on the defensive lineman's value. With the regular season less than two months away, he will likely play out the last year of his contract in 2015. The Temple product will be a free agent next spring, and if he puts together a big season, he will earn a big payday. Wilkerson has 24.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 237 tackles and 14 passes defended since he joined the Jets in 2011. Gang Green really needs him now because Pro Bowl defensive end Sheldon Richardson will miss the first four games due to a violation of of the league's substance-abuse policy. RutgersJetFan
Was there ever any indication that he was going to hold out? I think he's been saying forever that he wasn't going to hold out. Reminds me of this one time I passed out in a bar. The bouncer comes and wakes me up, and I immediately start flailing my arms yelling "I GET IT I'M LEAVING." Then this exchange ensues: "Sir I'm not throwing you out you just can't sleep in the corner like that." "GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME I KNOW WHERE THE DOOR IS." "I'm not touching you and...you don't have to leave man, I'm not telling you to leave." "NO! I KNOW HOW THIS WORKS! BEEN ASKED TO LEAVE BARS PLENTY OF TIMES BUDDY I'M A VETERAN." "Sir you don't have to go! You just can't sleep!" "WE'LL SEE IF I EVER COME BACK TO THIS DAMN PLACE AGAIN!" :scoffs and storms out door:

slats
You have to wonder if he and Revis even talk. You know? The current CBA is so punitive when it comes to hold outs that I don't think even Revis would do it again. Have their been any hold outs since this contract was ratified? I don't think so. Even without that factor, a big part of Mo's marketability is his good soldier rep. Holding out would hurt his brand - and potentially his future earnings. Beerfish
He has no reason to hold out, until he puts up a full dominant season he is not getting paid big. If he has a monster year, full year this year he will be in line for his big pay day. If not I would not give him a huge deal if I was the Jets, fair deal yes, but huge one? Nope.
