Maxman
On if he will pursue G Evan Mathis… We’ve had talks with Evan’s agent. They have a range with where they want to be. The other thing with a lot of teams at this point in time is you almost kind of want to see what you have first. Obviously, Evan is a good player but as this thing plays out a little bit, we’ll kind of get a better feel for that. Evan may have a value he’s looking for right now that may not be a value that some of the teams may eventually spend on him, but we’ll see how that develops. On if Mathis can fit in the team’s salary cap… Like every player, however cheap they can potentially come in at (joking). It’s like everything else. We have the ability to do that, but again you have to think of what the short term and the long term gains of that are, but we’ll see how that develops. I don’t think there’s anything pressing with that right now.
Jet Nut
I heard him say he wanted to sign the beast. At short money.
jack48
no one will pay this guy huge money. he just has to come to the realization. I also think he is trying to miss some TC.
Integrity28
Mac is sending a message to the 4-5 guards that are playing patty-cake for the job... They want someone to step up and take it.

Gas2No99
Seems like this guy priced himself out the market He's just smartly biding his time until the mandatory number of fatty bodies start to drop from injuries during TC and teams will be clamoring to sign him AT HIS price. By 3rd week of preseason, some team WILL acquiesce to his contract demands; he's a proven pro-bowl veteran O-Lineman who can be VERY serviceable for a contending team needing to shore up its interior or for the bottom-dwellers who need to protect their young QBs and show their fans (Cleveland/Jax/Oak) the FO is willing to spend $$$ to win. Matt39
Aboushi and Winters both suck ass so I'd be in favor of this probably.
stoicsentry
Hopefully his price drops, we could really use him.

Jet9
Didn't Strahan do something similar his last year or 2? I want to say Roger Clemens did it a lot.
Maxman
Coach Bowles was asked if there is clarity at the right guard position. His answer. "No". Love that. No need to build up other players if it isn't true.

drdetroit
Aboushi and Winters both suck ass so I'd be in favor of this probably. Aboushi is mediocre but a lot of jets fans rate him as good which is mystifying. Winters is a waste of time.

Jetsfan80
Signing Mathis = 2,000+ team rushing yards (for context we easily eclipsed this in 2009 and 2010).
Jetsfan80
I posted this in the original Evan Mathis thread, for evidence of how good this guy is: Last year, Mathis missed weeks 2-9 with an injury. Without him in the lineup, Shady average 3.8 yards per carry. With Mathis in the lineup, he averaged 4.6. In 2013, with Mathis healthy the full season, McCoy averaged 5.1 yards per carry. Sign this guy immediately.
thshadow
Brent Qvale? Is there any potential there? He seems to be getting opportunities in camp (more than Aboushi)...
