I don't see a thread about his injury and got a news update that he left practice with a undisclosed injury. Considering what happened with Sheldon it's kind of important.

A tweaked hsmstring is not serious at first, but it takes significant time to fully heal. Depends on the severity but usually five weeks. Rush him back early and he will be dealing with it all season. I am in shock of how many NFL coaches and training staffs put a guy back out there too soon only and the player re-tweaks it. Happens over and over. Like in 2010 with Revis. Everyone remembers him pulling up lame on Moss' one-handed TD grab. He never should have been on the field.

They kep throwing Decker out there last season. He played at less than 100% for almost the whole year with probably a grade 1 strain. It would have been wiser to sit him 4 weeks and come back full strength.

Like Revis after he held out in 2010 missed most of camp and Hard Knocks..

They put them out there because it's next to impossible to test if your hamstring is back to 100% until you're performing in the game.  Most of those guys go through drills and warmups with their hammy feeling fine, then only noticing it when they're back in the game.

Exactly why you wait at least an extra full week, an extra two is better, before testing it. If Wilk is out on the field sooner than 5 weeks from now, the likelihood of that happening is high.

Rest for a while, ride the bike, lots of stretching, mostly light progressive intensity non-contact work until week 1, and NO PRESEASON GAMES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Week 1 is a good 44 days away. A fairly safe time frame for healing.

Revis was faking that one. He got beat and it was a reflex to act like he was injured lest anyone think he was bettered by a receiver.

I understand where you're coming from, and don't totally disagree. But a whole lot of guys are put back on the field as soon as they're able without an extra 2-4 weeks just to be sure, and they're fine. Meanwhile the team gets the player's services. It depends on the depth behind the player and if the season's on the line. Like with Decker. There were no other receivers, and if we just kept him out the first month the season would already have been over. In actuality it ended up being so anyway, as we lost 8 in a row without keeping him out of action for a month, but 60-80% of Decker was better than anyone else we had to replace him at the time.

WTF are you talking about??  They're hoping he's going to be back out there at the next practice on Tuesday.

If they're stretching it out in the trainer's room, then it's definitely *not* a serious tear.

Also, hammy problems are much worse for speed positions, e.g. WR and CB.
