Looks like no legal charges will be filed against IK

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Geno Smith has not yet pressed charges and is likely not to, so says a source close to the New York Jets quarterback about last week's altercation at the team's facility.

A week ago, Smith was punched in the jaw by IK Enemkpali, the now former Jets linebacker who had a dispute with his quarterback over money. Smith will likely be out for the first month of the season and required jaw surgery, which he had late last week. A source tells Metro New York that Smith has not yet pressed charges against Enemkpali “and likely won't.”

The Florham Park Police Department confirmed to Metro that no charges have been filed yet and the police were not called to Atlantic Health Jets Training Center following the fracas.

The source indicated to Metro that Smith is unlikely to pursue charges at this time and likely won't. It is unclear if the reason for the Jets quarterback not filing on the incident has anything to do with his perceived role in the fight or rather his willingness to let the incident simmer down.

The Jets should. Team lost an "asset" (lol) and it's the best way to ensure IK gets suspended or punished in some way by the league.

True but if geno had a bigger role than we "know of " He can't just lie about it then press charges because that can get you in more trouble IMHO.

That being said if Geno is not pressing charges he probably did have a bit more involvement than we are being told

Doesn't follow. He's not pressing charges because it would make him unemployable. It's not any indication as to his culpability.

I feel the organization asked Geno not to press charges.  As Todd Bowles said he doesn't want this one incident to define them.  He wants to move passed it.  If they press charges then the media will continue to use this as a distraction for the team.  Better to ignore and move on and not address anymore questions relating to it.

Yeah, that makes sense.

If you don't press charges, you're guilty.

Lets say for discussion purposes Geno fought back and broke his wrist, wouldn't fans hate him more than they already do fine line here no one wins.

Yeah because paying a backup player the 600 bones you owe him and avoid the fight all together is asking too much

Being a dumbass Canadian here in what cases does a person have to 'press charges'?  This whole concept mystifies me.  Up here, if you commit a potential offense, the cops investigate and you are charged, end of story.  They could give two hoots if Geno wanted to go forth with this or not.  If evidence is there they bring charges.
