Jints vs. Cowboys thread

He didn't have to throw it away, did he?  Eli could have slid and still had a short field goal.

Completely agree.  It's a little bit more risky to go with the pass call simply because there can be a legitimate pass attempt that's broken up, dropped, etc., but the idea is that risk is worth the potential reward of scoring a TD and closing out the game.  In this case, Eli certainly deserves criticism for just throwing the ball away, as there was no reason for that.

Yeah. Plus if you throw it on 3rd, it means you're going for it on 4th, right? That's not even getting into Eli snapping the ball with :20 left on the play clock. Just a bizarre sequence.

Rashad Jennings tells ESPN's Dan Graziano he was told not to score on 1st- and 2nd-and-goal on New York's final drive Sunday evening.

The idea being, to drain clock. Only the Giants then made the worst call of the young season, opting to pass on third down. They didn't complete it, and the Cowboys got an extra 40 seconds. Tony Romo promptly marched the Cowboys down the field for the game-winning touchdown after the Giants settled for a field goal. If true, it's a mind-bogglingly bad decision from coach Tom Coughlin, who has seemed increasingly out of his element in recent seasons.

It won't happen midseason but Coughlin is done. And Jerry Reese is kicking himself he didn't do it already. It might cost him his job too.  And the JPP mess-he's done. They should've cut him and be done with it. You cannot rush the passer without your hands.
