He was great the final few games of 2013 too.  It's meaningless.  But whatever, neither Fitz nor Geno are our answer beyond this season, so if we start to slide out of the playoff hunt, I'm fine with them throwing Geno in there.  Maybe he'll win some more late-season games against mathematically eliminated teams and then we can trade him for a 4th rounder.

No, he wasnt as good in 2013 as he was in 2014.  Shocking though, a young, inexperienced QB who shouldnt have been thrown to the wolves was inconsistent   Hard to imagine.  He showed improvement, some dont want to see if he will show more improvement, maybe even dramatic improvement in 2015. Sorry, the lame it was against mathematically eliminated teams is wrong as it is just an excuse.  We wanted him to sit, learn and show improvement.  He did.  But now more excuses.   No one can say he won't show more improvement, wont benefit from better talent levels on the O and coaching staff.  Just insist that they don't want to give him a chance.

He could also be a complete embarrassment, as he's been prone to do, and I don't want that out of a QB.  That's how you piss off the other 52 guys who are working their a$$es off trying to win a few games.

Geno was Brandon Marshall's boy this past offseason.  Have you heard one peep of complaint from him about Fitz?

I'm sure he is just thrilled that he can't run any routes past 10 yards without them sailing . Remember when he told Geno " I'm gonna teach you how to light it up" I don't think these 4 yard passes is what he had in mind.

Last time he was on a football field he was lightyears better than the embarrassing performance Fitz put out there yesterday.  But thats ok because you made every excuse why Fitz past performances like yesterdays were excusable and would never happen here?

Stop telling everyone that the other 52 would be pissed off.  Love how that excuse is thrown around as if anyone knows who was or wasnt pissed at Geno last year.  How about how many may be pissed at Fitz today? Wait because guys like Marshall are being good teamates and not stating the obvious about Fitz yesterday you want to hold that as a they loved his performance or think its better than Geno would have had?  You really expect Marshall or anyone else to let us know who they want at QB?  LOL

all this talk about Fitz/Geno neglects the fact that the biggest 2 plays in that game were a punt return and a Marshall brain fart. Take away those mistakes, the Jets win by a FG.

They were both intolerable to watch.

But if Marshall doesn't do the flip fumble, then it's not automatic that they score - on a TD to Marshall - on the next drive. It's not even a given Fitz doesn't throw a pick on the very next pass play. Philadelphia sure looked like they took their foot off the gas after getting out to a 24-0 lead. The games don't work like that. Maybe the Eagles' backs have their head in the play a little more and don't drop either one of the easy TD passes Bradford threw them.

If either of those 2 plays happened in the mid-4th quarter or (like his tip-drop on our last possession) so late that we lost our last, or one of our last, possessions then you can say what would have happened or what the final score would have been. But the games don't work like that when the damage came so early. It affected the gameplans of both teams. Certainly Philly's, who played it close to the vest the rest of the way, in a way they probably wouldn't have if the score was tighter.

Everyone argues Fitz and Geno aren't the answer when does Bowles turn this team over to Bryce Petty.

Pretty sure we all agree Pickzpatrick isn't the answer.  Most rational football minds, including our HC, OC, and a slue of football pundits, want to see what Geno can do with a real offense.

we can play the what if game but usually when a team gets a PR td that team wins. It's a game-changer. The BM mistake was also a game changer. let's not pretend like the loss is all on Fitz and all the team needed was St. Geno to rescue everyone.

end of the day, neither the Eagles nor Jets are contenders. Geno is terrible, Fitz flawed but better, and the team's biggest need is still at QB.

I'm not saying they still would have lost, because they were clear game-changers. But you can't say what the final score would have been.

All it may mean is they would have found a different way to lose. We looked like crap before the punt return TD and before Marshall's flip fumble. So it's not as though those were any type of momentum killers. On the punt return in particular, since the reason we were punting in the first place is the offense did nothing again.

For all you know a FG on the Marshall flip fumble drive would have been followed up with an immediate TD by Philadelphia.

You cannot say what the final score would have been "if not for" early/1st half plays. No way.

Last time Geno was on the field he was having another terrible training camp, like usual, before getting punched in the face by a teammate.  Again, I'm cool with him taking the field if the season gets out of hand.  But right now we're 2-1 (and people just love to assume we'd be 3-0 with Geno despite his awful track record).  If we're 3-1 heading into the bye, Geno will just have to wait for his shot like any other backup.

So continue going 7-9 with Fitz and never get a real QB in draft, Dont give Geno a chance with real wrs and a real OC, cause 2nd round picks mean diddly poo.

not necessarily. the game doesn't play out the same way if those plays don't happen.

Fitz is an average qb.  He can lead a team to victory but he can not lead a team when losing to victory.  When given a good running game (which we didn't have yesterday), good wide receivers (we were missing one yesterday) he can be good enough to win.  When asked to throw the ball 58 times and losing by 24 he is exposed as who he is.  Not a good qb.  Take it day by day.  We're 2 and 1.  Not where we expected to be and have a real chance Sunday.  Don't get too ahead.  In a few weeks if we lose a few and Fitzpatrick looks like this then lets talk looking at after the Redskins game.

He becomes horrible without a run game.  With a run game he can manage a team.  But if you have no run game and need him to carry your team you are falling fat on your face.  Pretty much consensus around here.

This 100%.  Want to know why Fitz appeared effective last season?  Arian Foster was dominating Football games and making life very easy on Fitz.  Fitz isnt good enough to have him throwing it all over the field. He's too limited.  It showed yesterday, badly.  Some of the throws he missed with High School Football level easy.

Ivory and Decker out definitely hurt the offense.  No doubt about it.  But Fitz left a ton of plays on the field.  A ton.  Too many under throws, I saw him go to the wrong place with the ball a few times, held the ball to long on a few, went high on a few...and this his helpless 3rd down heave...holy sh*t, ENOUGH!!!!  That has to stop.  It's a wasted play.  The guy cant let one on one coverage go on the sidelines.   If he see's it, the ball is getting chucked up in prayer fashion to that match up.  He hasnt hit that throw once but he keeps doing it.  It's maddening.

Actually ALOT of QB's down 24 are gonna have a hard time coming back.

I'm not apologizing for Fitz in any way shape or form. That is just the way I see it.

No, both were having a terrible camp.  Difference is Fitzpatrick was still recovering from a broken leg, and Geno followed up his camp by getting in a petty argument with a linebacker, killing his chances of starting Week 1.

He was?

My recollection is Fitzpatrick was the one having the terrible training camp. So bad that everyone wishfully blamed it on his leg injury because pretty much no one wanted to see Geno on the field (or because Geno was named starter, wanted to know someone was good enough to warrant Bowles having the very tightest of leashes for Geno).

I'm not at all suggesting Geno is some slam dunk to become a good QB, since for all we know he'd be leading the league in turnovers with a baker's dozen through these first 3 games, but he was badly outplaying Fitzpatrick in camp. It's probably what empowered him to act like such a douche to IK in the first place because he'd so secured the starting job.

Continuing from the bad camp, Fitz has looked pretty bad, and the reality is we're just lucky he hasn't thrown more picks and hasn't paid for such poor QBing. The lack of tragic collapse isn't for lack of throwing to blanketed receivers, that's for sure. Been a lot of those, including to those blanketed by 2 or even 3 DBs, and his ball placement has been very suspect.

Run blocking, missed tackles, Brandon Marshall and punt team lost the game yesterday, not Fitz...End of story

Even if this was the case...it's not really the point most are making.

In today's NFL - it's not okay for the QB to simply not lose a game for you.  The QB has to "win" games for you...and Fitz doesn't have the skill set to do it.

Neither have a lot of franchises out there.  And who is the homerun Andrew Luck prospect coming out this year?  Lemme guess, whoever is QB-ing at Alabama?

No Brynn Renner is still avail, marquis williams looks like a stud in making. Bama just produces studs at every position but QB

Part of the reason for going down 24 was his fault too.  If the Jets didn't go three and out I don't know how many times - maybe they don't put up 24.  Offense has to score or at least move the chains...

You're rewritting history.  Everyone was reporting that Geno looked really good.  Geno went what 13 practices of camp without a pick?  What did he have 2 the entire camp?  Fitz was throwing them all camp

How many Fitz excuses can we come up with?  The excuses given for his play, the leg excuse is long gone.  But what was attributed to his leg, no zip on the ball, inability to throw long are still his weakness.  Guess what, its not the leg anymore.

Absolutely. Fitz was part of the problem. Doesn't mean you go and throw Geno in there.
