Is Chip Kelly....

Villain The Foe

Recommended Posts

Still a genius or will he ulitimately be the culprit for dismantling one of the more talented teams the NFL had to offer over the past 3 seasons? Their 1-3 record is one thing, but the eagles as a football team doesnt look good, Chips free agent/trade acquisitions is also looking more like a poor move, guys who were more productive last year " J Matthews and Ertz" are less productive this year, Bradford may not be as good a fit as Foles was in this offense, R Matthews looks to be more of a fit than Murray, The McCoy trade really stands out when he's traded for a LB'er with knee issues and is currently injured with a knee injury and Byron Maxwell has been getting smoked for most of this early season.

Is this just a slow start  for the Eagles or has Chip Kelly fooled the Eagles organization and the NFL world with his "genius".

If he was a genius he would have traded Foles for MG and he wouldn't be 1-3..;)

Nobody affiliated with the game of football should ever be referred to as a "genius".

This is a form of entertainment in which grown men smash into each other.

To answer your question, Chip Kelly fooled the NFL. I'm glad he fooled the Eagles, for some reason I hate them as much as I hate Miami, the Pats, and Oakland.

Could a porn producer be considered a genius where grown people smash body parts into each other?? :)

The guys he's shipped out have been good moves by and large. The guys he's brought in, not so much.

He should have kept Maclin.

I didn't see any reason for him to break up that OL either.

McCoy was spent, I saw him failing in Buffalo a million miles away.

You think? That offensive line looks like they're missing Evans right now while he's probably out in Denver laughing his behind off. Bradford looks worst than Foles, not resigning Maclin and drafting a USC WR in the first round I cant speak too highly on given that Maclin is doing pretty well in KC and Agholor is....a WR from USC lol. Desean Jackson had a good year last year though we havent seen much of him this year.

Trading McCoy for a player with multiple ACL tears in both knees isnt looking to good, especially with Alonzo being sidelined and Murray not really working out.

They should not bail on him too soon.  His system can still work but his gming skills seems suspect.  I think Bradford was a very poor fit for his system.  I have no problem with some of his other moves like letting McCoy go.  He needs another year to add more of the player types he wants.  Maybe I am being biased in favor of him because I love the fact that he challenged the traditional way of doing things and I love the pressure a high tempo offense puts on defenses, especially those that like to substitute or make a lot of pre snap reads.

He's terrible and everyone here loved him.  "The most friendly QB system in the league".  LMFAO!!!

He sucks and so do the Eagles and it infuriates me that we lost to that sh*t team.

Every move he made this offseason has backfired.  Every single one of them.

A lot of people who said he would fail badly seemingly had to wait two full years before bringing out the 'he sucks!, i knew he would fail!' posts.

The previous two seasons the Eagles were 5th and 2nd in total offense.  (3rd and 4th in points scored) They had two 10 win seasons and won the division in his 1st year.

The scheme is absolutely destroying his defense and with utter lack of offensive weapons that team is going to lose a lot of games (It's troubling that we lost to them)

in two years he got rid of - McCoy, Maclin and D. Jackson...simply because he didn't like them, it seems.  His ego is the problem.  Happens to a lot of college coaches when they come to the NFL, they expect players to cow-tow to them, like their kids did in college - except these are now wealthy men that don't have to.  As an NFL coach you have to learn to deal with ego's and put your own in check.  Part of the job is motivating head-cases and understanding that sometimes talent comes with a cost.

You can't judge his moves with a 4 game sample size. The guy completely overhauled the entire roster. The fact that people have already said the "Jury is out" is flat out ridiculous...did you really think it would come together immediately?  Give him a few years and then evaluate.

...I am aware that you can say the same thing about Macaggan...but **** that, he's a genius.

He doesn't have a few years.  This is likely it for him if he doesn't get into the playoffs.

My initial instinct is clearly that Chip the GM is a huge failure. It's early in his tenure but man, the team looks a lot worse on paper and on film than they did even last year.

Chip the coach? I dunno, he looked pretty good the first two years. Now that the talent isn't so good (obviously his fault) things aren't looking so hot.

Either way, I suspect he'll be coaching college again by 2017.

and how on earth would you know that?

I live in the Philly area...listen to Philly talk radio, many Eagle fan friends...

They already want this guys head...it's really nasty out here.  Philly fans are out for blood, they trusted this guy, called him a genius, didn't like what he was doing but said things like "In Chip we trust" and right now they're furious...if the Eagles continue like this there's no way he comes back...He might not even make it through the season.  If they don't force him out he'll leave.

He'll take a $5mm a year college job (have is pick of the litter) and go back to what he's good at.

yeaaaah, but its a bit different. The failing badly really stems from what he's been systematically doing with the roster, not that most people thought he would fail from the start. Many fans here wanted Chip as the Jets coach when he was leaving Oregon. When he won the division and went to the playoffs in his first year I didnt really hear anyone down talking him because he was certainly the hottest coach in terms of popularity in the league. Those doubts really began the moment he cut Desean Jackson and basically got nothing in return.  Atleast thats when I began to see rumblings regarding Chip and his decision making. This offseason really put it over the top though.
