Please save your Carolina scandal bashing for the other threads.  Try to stick to talking just about the season that is almost upon us.

Teams have already begun practicing and CBS has their preseason top 25 up and hopefully the future champs are at #1.

Looking forward to a fun season of basketball that hopefully ends w/ Roy's 3rd Nat'l title.

You can't tell us not to talk about the cheating Tar Heels when your thread's entire purpose is to tout UNC as the top national championship contender.  No one outside of Chapel Hill will care if they win the title.

can't wait for that new era of UNCW basketball!

No surprise at ACC media day.  Carolina picked preseason #1, Marcus Paige/Malcolm Brogdon preseason co-players of the year

Damn. I was hoping people would sleep on the Irish again so they can fly under the radar like last year. Should be another fun year.

they lost 2 huge players, they will be good but I don't think ACC championship/elite 8 type of good.  they were a fun team to watch.

Bleacher report ranked St. John's last in the big East. Season looks like its gonna hurt.

I am interested to see what Mullin can do, there will be struggles early but I think in the end it could pay off.

All I'm going to say is, its going to be really hard to watch the Gators and see someone other than Billy D walking the sidelines.

It gives me much sadness.  Though we still have some talent, I fear the worst for the program.

Billy was one of the best, who knows how long until they are an elite program again but they will be again.

Congrats to UNI, an excellent mid major program and they deserved the win.  what other big time program plays on the road at top mid majors?   that's another thing I love about Carolina basketball, they aren't afraid to play anyone anywhere.  Unfortunately this game was scheduled for Marcus paige in his home state but Marcus was unable to play but Carolina still has to find a way to win that game and they failed.  Roy Williams teams always "struggle" early and get better late so while frustrating I am not overly concerned.

Eeerily similar to November of 2004 at Santa Clara, in that game they were w/o raymond Felton and it was a layover en route to a tournament(tonight/weds they play in the HOF classic in KC) and the top 5 Heels(I think they were 2 or 3 at the time) lost to Santa Clara.  That was the same night as the "Malace at the palace" and no one really paid attention to the upset and this weekend w/ the big CFB games including the FB Heels clinching the Coastal division no one is really paying attention.  Hopefully this season ends the same way that season ended.

New polls:

somehow Carolina playing a tough team on the road drops 8 spots while duke gets thrashed by UK at a neutral site moves down 1 spot in 1 poll and up another in the other poll.  Unbelievable.

Nice comeback for the Heels to win the HOF Classic over K-State.  Trailing by 8 late they went on a crazy run to win by 10.  Barring any setbacks this will be the last game w/o Marcus Paige.  Looking forward to seeing Marcus back out there against former ACC rival Maryland on Tuesday.
