Another New Orleans defensive debacle has spelled the end of Rob Ryan's days as the unit's coordinator.

Multiple sources told FOXSports.com that Ryan is being removed from the position following Sunday's 47-14 loss at Washington.

The Redskins generated 526 yards of offense with Kirk Cousins posting a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 while throwing for 324 yards and four touchdowns. The Saints also surrendered 225 rushing yards, led by Alfred Morris, who gained 104 on just 15 carries.

New Orleans ranks last in the NFL in yards allowed (424.7), points allowed (31.5) and passing touchdowns allowed (28).

Ryan, 52, was hired as Saints defensive coordinator in 2013 following a two-year stint in the same position with Dallas. New Orleans enjoyed initial success with Ryan in his first season but badly slumped in 2014.

Despite the decline, the Saints retained Ryan but also hired former coordinator Dennis Allen as a senior defensive assistant in the offseason.

Allen is a likely candidate to replace Ryan but the new coordinator's identity wasn't immediately known.

The Saints (4-6) have a bye this weekend before their next game Nov. 29 at Houston.

Terry better get out her checkbook! Looks like the stable of failed coaches in Buffalo is about to grow by one!

Tom:  Terry is a man and his wife (co-owner of the Bills) is Kim.   It wouldn;t surprise me to see Rob Ryan in Buffalo.  Terry Pegula is a generous man and they probably can find something for him but  not a coaching job (Lord,  please no).

He has not had talent to work with at all in most cases.  Rex would be in the same boat if not given top notch talent each year.  Hell he had one year with CB issues and everything fell apart.

I don't care what the talent is, you can't have a D like they have in NO now.

Its not Rob's fault. Its the GM's fault, the QB's fault for not having longer drives. Its the HC's fault for not making the QB have longer drivers. Its the OC's fault, its the fans fault, its the media's fault. Its just not Rob's fault.

Signed,

Sincerely yours, Rex Ryan.

Saints coach Sean Payton said DC Rob Ryan has not been fired.

Payton said any reports on Ryan's future are just speculation, and he has not met with Ryan or GM Mickey Loomis at this point. Payton did say the team will not continue on the same course. The likely outcome is still Ryan losing his job, but the official announcement may not come until later in the week. New Orleans is on pace to give up the most passing touchdowns in league history.

Rob may not have any NFL defensive coordinator opportunities next year, considering how poorly he did this year.

Rex can always add him to his staff as an assistant or consultant, I'm sure he'll try if nothing else pops up.  That would be entertaining, if nothing else.
