Josh Martin

School: Columbia
Position: OLB
Bio: Three-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign. Senior totals included 50 tackles as well as a team-leading 11.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. Junior numbers included 63/13/7.
Positive: Aggressive college defensive end who will get consideration at outside linebacker in the NFL. Breaks down well, plays with good pad level, and actively works his hands. Fluid changing direction and quickly gets out to the flanks in pursuit of the action. Instinctive defender who quickly locates the ball and is rarely caught off his feet. Displays terrific movement skills and easily slides down the line of scrimmage to make plays. Gets a lot of momentum going up the field, effectively uses his hands to protect himself, and keeps his feet moving on contact.
Negative: Lacks bulk and was handled by opposing linemen. Possesses solid speed yet is not a flat-out burner.
Analysis: Martin was a consistent producer for Columbia and made a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. He'll receive consideration as a pass-rush specialist standing up over tackle in a 3-4 alignment or as a 4-3 one gap defensive end. Martin comes with a special teams mentality which is added value.

With any luck we have found a needle in the hay stack with the way we draft we need other teams to pick the guys then try them out for us.

The fact that Coples is added to the list of another #1 draft pick bust has me pissed, we have blown so many drafts all those #1s should be winning games for us. DAMMIT

So, you run your team based on what others do?  No one wants Rice, why do you?

Might not be a bad idea we haven't sniffed a Super Bowl in 46 years.

I want an improved running game when Ivory is on the sidelines we have nothing I want a RB who can catch out of backfield I'm tired of the 3rd and long draw plays aren't you.

nice thought, problem is Rice is a shell of himself and is a protest waiting to happen.  Who needs his baggage for his non return at the position.  He would be the 4th back on this team

Powell had 5 catches for nearly 70 yards this weekend. Sounds like a back that can catch out of the backfield. Like you said, if 31 other teams passed on Rice, why should the Jets take him on?

If Powell is going to stay healthy then we fixed it Ridley sucks we need a scat back.

Well then why not use your logic on Ray Rice

One didn't punch his fiancée? One is young and a special teams player? One is completely washed up?

A "young special teams player" will put the Jets over the top?

Most teams in the NFL find those guys in rounds 4-6 of the draft, not off the waiver wire of other team's trash.
