nyjunc
With the Jets playing in Arlington on Saturday Night I thought it would be fun to look back at our history on Saturday. early in our history we regularly played on Saturdays, I remember as a kid in the 80s we would always play a late season Saturday afternoon game. I remember the last game at Shea vs. Pitt in 1983, breaking the losing streak in 1984 vs. Buffalo, playing the Bears in 1985, the classic 3-0 thriller over Washington in 1993 and our 1st AFC East clincher at Buffalo in 1998. they used to have Sat games at 12:30 and 4 every week the final 2-3weeks of the season. 1960 28-24 loss vs. Boston 1961 21-20 win at Boston 1961 23-12 win vs. Oakland 1962 17-6 win at Buffalo 1962 43-14 loss vs. Boston 1962 20-3 loss vs. Buffalo 1962 44-10 loss vs. Houston 1963 10-7 win vs. Oakland 1963 31-24 win vs. Boston 1963 35-35 tie vs. Denver 1963 53-7 loss vs. SD 1963 19-10 loss vs Buffalo 1964 17-17 tie vs. San Diego 1964 35-13 win vs. Oakland 1964 24-21 win vs. Houston 1964 34-24 loss at Buffalo 1964 35-14 win vs. Boston 1965 14-10 loss vs. Kansas City 1965 24-24 tie vs. Oakland 1965 34-9 loss vs. san Diego 1965 38-7 loss at San Diego 1966 17-16 win vs. San Diego 1966 28-28 tie at Oakland 1966 38-28 win at Boston 1967 27-14 win vs. Oakland 1968 23-20 win vs. San Diego 1969 34-26 win vs. Houston 1969 13-6 loss vs. Kansas City(playoffs) 1970 20-6 loss vs. Miami 1970 35-20 loss at Baltimore 1971 52-10 loss at Dallas 1979 27-24 win at Miami 1980 24-17 win at Miami(I think this was the announcerless game) 1981 14-13 win at Cleveland 1982 20-19 loss at Miami 1982 17-14 win at Los Angeles(Playoffs) 1983 34-7 loss vs. Pitt 1984 21-17 win vs. Buf 1985 19-6 loss vs. Chicago 1985 26-14 loss vs. New England(playoffs) 1986 45-24 loss vs. Pittsburgh 1986 23-20(2 OT) loss at Cleveland(playoffs) 1988 34-16 win vs. Indianapolis 1989 37-0 loss vs. Buffalo 1992 20-0 loss vs. New Orleans 1993 3-0 win at Washington 1993 28-7 loss vs. Dallas 1994 18-7 loss vs. Detroit 1994 24-10 loss at Houston 1996 21-20 loss vs. Philadelphia 1998 17-10 win at Buffalo 2001 38-24 loss at Oakland(playoffs) 2002 41-0 win vs. Indianapolis(playoffs) 2003 21-16 loss vs. New England 2004 20-17(OT) win at San Diego(playoffs) 2004 20-17(OT) loss at Pittsburgh(playoffs) 2009 24-14 win at Cincinnati(Playoffs) 2010 17-16 win at Indianapolis(Playoffs) 2011 29-14 loss at NY Giants Overall 24-28-4(5-5 in playoffs)

nyjunc
Hell nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I have to run errands with my wife as a kid Sat games were great. I do have a lot going on now especially w/ kids but I still miss those games. I'd much rather have the old Sat afternoon games than the Thurs night games we have now. section314
You are right....the 1980 win vs Miami was the non announcer game. Even more significant, it turned out, was with that win, the Giants moved ahead of us in the 1981 draft and took some guy named Lawrence Taylor. Jolot
The jets actually played the 85 bears pretty tough that day...the score doesn't look like it but they were right there for awhile .
Jet Fan RI
I miss those Saturday afternoon NFL games. Wish they would come back. Right. Use them to eliminate a night game like, say, Thursday. But I'll bet if Saturday afternoon games come back, the NFL will keep all the night games as well. The only thing stopping them is probably the fact that all the free games will ruin the value of Sunday ticket. So they will have to wait to introduce 7 days a week NFL football until they expand the number of teams sufficiently. Ugh.
JetCane
1968 23-20 win vs. San Diego That was a night game, and I believe the home opener. It was the first game I went to with my Dad when he got seasons tickets. We had been to single games before that. IIRC the Chargers had the ball at the end and were driving but Johnny Sample intercepted to end the game. Then I think there were fireworks! Ahh, the good old, old days... kelticwizard
I think the Saturday afternoon games came in because the college football season was over except for the bowl games on New Year's back then. When the college football season expanded, there was a conflict.
nyjunc
My favorite was our first AFC east clincher in 1998, I was lucky enough to take the long drive up there and enjoy it person.
Ken Schroy
The jets actually played the 85 bears pretty tough that day...the score doesn't look like it but they were right there for awhile . Yep. Mickey Schuler caught a pass from Kenny O on the opening drive but fumbled it around the 10 yard line, I think.
