The Jets On Saturdays

With the Jets playing in Arlington on Saturday Night I thought it would be fun to look back at our history on Saturday.  early in our history we regularly played on Saturdays, I remember as a kid in the 80s we would always play a late season Saturday afternoon game.  I remember the last game at Shea vs. Pitt in 1983, breaking the losing streak in 1984 vs. Buffalo, playing the Bears in 1985, the classic 3-0 thriller over Washington in 1993 and our 1st AFC East clincher at Buffalo in 1998. they used to have Sat games at 12:30 and 4 every week the final 2-3weeks of the season.

Hell nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.  I have to run errands with my wife ;)

as a kid Sat games were great.  I do have a lot going on now especially w/ kids but I still miss those games. I'd much rather have the old Sat afternoon games than the Thurs night games we have now.

I miss those Saturday afternoon NFL games.  Wish they would come back.

Right. Use them to eliminate a night game like, say, Thursday. But I'll bet if Saturday afternoon games come back, the NFL will keep all the night games as well. The only thing stopping them is probably the fact that all the free games will ruin the value of Sunday ticket. So they will have to wait to introduce 7 days a week NFL football until they expand the number of teams sufficiently. Ugh.

1968 23-20 win vs. San Diego

That was a night game, and I believe the home opener.

It was the first game I went to with my Dad when he got seasons tickets. We had been to single games before that.

IIRC the Chargers had the ball at the end and were driving but Johnny Sample intercepted to end the game.

Then I think there were fireworks! Ahh, the good old, old days...

The jets actually played the 85 bears pretty tough that day...the score doesn't look like it but they were right there for awhile .

Yep. Mickey Schuler caught a pass from Kenny O on the opening drive but fumbled it around the 10 yard line, I think.

I hate that this sh*t is on the ******* NFL Network. I hate Comcast and cable and this ******* league that refuses to adapt to any semblance of something reasonable for streaming and broadcasting. Quintuple **** the NFL with the fire of a thousand suns.

are you in the NY area?
