QB Dropback Question

Check out Phil Simms' dropback at 32:19 of the video below.  He basically drops back while facing forward the whole time (I always associated that w/ Dan Fouts btw because I remember he did that a lot).  My question is whether or not QBs still do this dropback.  I feel like it's rare to see these days.  Am I wrong about that?

Namath used to back peddle in addition to the classic drop back.  Man, the ball would come out quick when he did.  Imagine Joe in today's game with the current rules and shotgun all the time.  FWIW, Joe was the best when it came to play fakes and the way he played out simple hand offs.

Joe also called his own plays, something  a lot of guys did back then.
