SenorGato
Sounds like they've got their panties in a bunch over low wages: http://jezebel.com/new-york-jets-cheerleaders-win-325-000-class-action-se-1755535676 “When you look at the actual hours worked versus what Krystal was paid, she only made $3.77 per hour,” Pierce said. “When you factor in the required hair, makeup and transportation expenses, the hourly rate goes below $1.50 an hour.” The article mentions that several cheerleading squads across the league filed lawsuits against their (and our) job creating overlords over criminally low wages. I ask, what do these broads think the owners owe them? Mr. Johnson and his fellow pillars of the modern world give them the privilege of working for a prestigious, multi-billion dollar national monopoly, to build their resumes as young gals, and this is the gratitude shown? Its not even like people pay to see these biddies, they pay to see the foozeball players! Also, probably they want to see what kind of stadium their tax dollars paid for! I'm sick and tired of these gosh danged laborers, beings of lesser stock, trying to rob good, civilized men like Woody Johnson blind. Go get a real job! Or at least go back in time and make sure your parents' parents were wealthy! It's like these ungrateful hens don't understand how hard it is for great men like Woody to bribe each other and lobby and definitely not ever collude!! As if these guys needed yet another stress on their plate...Hopefully a salary cap is right around the bend for these dames. BTW: Of COURSE her name is Krystal. What better name for a woman of clearly lower stock, lesser means, and no ambition?! Her and her friends, Breanna and Tiffany no doubt, might have won the battle, but will not win the war! TuscanyTile2
It's the modern (aka "progressive") world we live in. I wonder how many of them came back to work for a 2nd season after knowing the deal from their 1st season at that job (I'm sure there were at least some and probably a lot). What does that tell you about them being "underpaid". Obviously they got something out of the deal. Sure they didn't get paid much from cheerleading itself BUT I'm sure they made plenty of money from other stuff (e.g. calendars, getting auditions to other stuff, etc). I'm sure being a cheerleader opens doors. But in today's world everyone is a victim.

TuscanyTile2
Get rid of the cheerleaders Why? Cheerleaders have been a part of football for a long time. I know it's considered sexist to have cheerleaders but sports are entertainment and their dancing is part of it. Plus I'm guessing many of the cheerleaders like their job so I'm not sure the sexism stuff even makes sense (as they're doing that job at their own choosing). This is not a new or revolutionary concept. It's been the law across the nation for roughly eighty years. When you go to work on Monday make sure to tell your boss you'd like a pay cut because you're tired of walking around thinking you deserve a fair wage. The ones who become strippers I'm referring to. I still say cheer leading opens legit doors for these girls. One example (admittedly not the most common) is Teri Hatcher. the Claw
Honestly, if I broke my hours down, I'd not be making much more than her. Folks in the entertainment industry have always been paid poorly--and I'm talking about the real ones, the everyday people who keep an industry running-- it's part of the job at this point. I live in Chicago and living on that kind of money is a challenge. I can't imagine what that's like in the tri state area. That being said, I chose to work in the entertainment industry. I signed that contract. I knew what I was getting into. Very few people actually understand how much work it takes to put on a good performance. No one really ever sees the rehearsals, set up, breakdown, travel, equipment management, parking, tickets-- not to mention the years and money it took to get to that point. The understanding-gap between entertainer and entertained is pretty massive. Me? I don't ask for more money. I think it breeds resentment and widens that gap. I just work as hard as I can and take what I can get. Sometimes I have a great month and sometimes I squeak by (no gov handouts, in case anyone's wondering). Bottom line, they took the gig. Gotta play by the rules until/if somethings changes. (And btw, hanging out with millionaires ain't really as great as it's made out to be)
whodeawhodat
Cheerleaders are really underpaid, knew one in Tampa and I dont even think they paid her, she just got paid to do promotions. Either way, they deserve reasonable pay, they practice a lot and are professionals. My $0.02.
