ChuckkieB
Cimini is a total hack. I am convinced that most of the beat reporters and sports "journalists" across ALL sports make up at least half of their stories.

Where is he getting bad press other than here? Maybe he posts here? The problem isn't bad press. It's the fact that you're straight up telling every team in the league that you're on the verge of retirement, the same team you're also hoping will invest a big contract in you? Don't think it would take a Harvard grad too long to see the issue there.

I don't think people are attacking him, he's entitled to ask for any amount of money he wants but the reality is no team was willing to give him that and the jets aren't willing to give him that so if he will only play if he gets what he is asking for then we have seen the last of Fitz. Warfish
I don't believe this report, I think it's full of sh*t frankly, either on purpose or as pre-draft smoke by Macc, Fitz and Co. But if it's true, it is what it is, we let Fitz go, and lose a ton of games behind Geno Smith, Unready Petty or some Draft Pick (Lynch?) in 2016, and pray we get the #1 pick and a decent vaguely ready QB in 2017. A Hoyer, Geno, Petty 2016 is an actual possibility in such a case. Can't say the next few years will be fun with that outlook.

We won 10 games last season against very weak teams we actually only beat 2 teams with winning records if it wasn't for Fitzpatrick failure we would have beat the Bills and earned a playoff spot. Rangers9
I don't think it's that far flung to think that Fitz would retire if he doesn't get the payday he is looking for. It seems to be a trend now with football players esp in light of the medical findings with concussions, the movie, etc. He's been firm and hasn't caved in. Maybe because he has decided not to compromise. Nobody really knows the exact figure he is asking for or the Jets have offered him. It's just rumor and speculation and probably a lot of it that's been leaked by both sides esp the team. I have no problem with it and don't think he's an ingrate if he turns down millions. It's his deal!

Snell41
Fitz is a very smart man, you can rest assured the money he has made was invested wisely and he's set for life. I'm sure he's financially at a point where if he doesn't get what he wants, he can retire happily and focus on his family and post football career. Good for him. And with that from a Jets fan POV, I say see ya. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

JoJoTownsell1
I loved Fitz last year, but he is a journeyman QB that was gifted Chan/Decker/Marshall/Ivory/Powell/Enunwa. He didn't make this offense, his supporting cast made this offense. If he rather work on Fox Sports 1 doing pregame with 8,000 viewers, god bless him, but if he wants to have a shot at the playoffs then he should sign for whatever the Jets are offering. If he doesn't have the desire to play football anymore then maybe we are better off with Hoyer.

There's no risk to the journalist making up stories unless they are so far flung and so outrageous that they are unbelievable to even the most casual fan. Nobody expects journalists to identify their sources so there's no way to verify the stories. The sports media wants those stories so they can split up and take each side of a story and turn one small allegation into days of stories. Definitely not going back and checking posts from early last season though, but I know I said Fitz would be able to play "well" given the team around him. I was also arguing to put in Geno the second he was healthy in hopes of avoiding exactly what happened. Mediocrity and still in QB hell not knowing what we have with our young guys. Again, believe it or not, I don't hate Fitz. Cool guy and a solid backup if surrounded by talent. However that's at 3/4mil. If he wants to be a franchise starter (and paid like it), more power to him. Just do it elsewhere.
