New England trades up to 17 in front of Buffalo and NY and picks Darren Lee.

"**** we had him"

"Cheaters always win"

"Would have been great for us, we need a LB who can cover"

Don't forget " New England just won the division - again"

Talking heads: " BB just outsmarted the Jets and picked a hybrid LB who is the future defense of the NFL"

The NFL Advisory Committee gave a 20 year old kid who has been playing LB for two years a top 15 grade (almost the same as a pre-injury Jaylon Smith).  What does that tell you?

Don't waste your time. Some folks have already made up their mind it is a bad pick so now they have to justify to themselves.

I have no opinion on Lee.

Seems like a reach, small, not terribly strong, pass rush specialist possibly too small to do it in the NFL.

But since I have some measure of faith in Bowles and Macc, I just can't rise to oppose the pick tonight.

Guess we'll see.  Given last years draft class was pretty meh, they need to hit on a few picks this year AND get something more substantial from their picks from last year to boot.

Still expect a QB in the midrounds.

So now. BPA doesn't matter.  It's about stopping one player on one team?

was a panicky. Pick for need.. Classic Jet move.

So you say. I disagree.  The guy is the best all around linebacker in the draft; sorry he isn't a quarterback.

So defense for 7 years running.  And now the last decent QB in this draft is gone.  Macc did great last year with an unlimited checkbook and a top 6 pick.

This year, well he has completely mishandled our QB position as well as the Mo Wilk situation.  He better have a plan or we are going to regress quite a bit this year.  With nothing in the future to look forward to.  He should be on the hot seat.

He mishandled last year as well. He overpaid for revis and harris and cro.  He screwed up Mo's legacy on this team.  Geno is STILL on this team.  If not for Fitz, Jets would have been 4-12. But fret not, there's always next year.

Not only that as someone who followed the B1G and Ohio State their Defense WAS Bosa.  Lee's opportunities were a product of teams always scheming around Bosa.

And the jets have three guys on the front line teams have to worry about.

He will do a better job than anyone on the roster and that is the only one aspect of his game.  He is a true sideline to sideline player who will make our defense even better.  Lynch is a project and we have already in Petty.

I thought Pryor looked decent matched up against gronk last year

He's not going to cover him man, but he can sure play underneath, and close on the ball better than anyone we've ever had.

He also a VERY GOOD blitzer and actually has that elite speed off the edge folks have been crying about for years.

I think we take a quarterback later depending on who is on the board.

I agree....

I just think that the Jets by not panicking are saying Petty may not have been as good as the top two QB prospects but he is almost as good as everyone else in the draft..........

You realize he's not a pass specialist, right?  Of course you don't.

Is Bobby Wagner too small to play in the NFL?  Of course he isn't.

Is picking a guy who was given a top 15 grade by the NFL at No. 20 a reach?  Of course it's not.

C'mon, man.

He's going to be used like a Bobby Wagner/Deone Buccanon. Will be MUCH more than a pass rushing specialist in the NFL. I'd like to see QB in the second and a more pure pass rusher in the 3rd. Maybe Noah Spence or the other kid from Georgia.

What's up JN, haven't posted in a while, hope all is well with you guys. Just wanted to drop my 2 cents into what went down tonight. I think the Jets went with the "safest" pick. He'll fit real good in Bowles' system, however I find it hard to believe Lee was the highest ranked player left on their board. We all know Macc drafts BAP, so if he was, I'm surprised. But Macc obviously knows a lot more than me and anyone here, so I trust his judgment. He has sideline to sideline speed, which we desperately needed. Looking forward to tomorrow. As always, go Jets.

THANK YOU! Not mention Mauldin who also is a handful.  I don't understand why folks are not understanding this.

I know there's some people here who don't think highly of Gil Brandt but he had Lee as the 15th best player in the entire f*cking draft! So next year when we're in a tight game & the opposing QB hits the RB with a swing pass that Damario Davis would take a bad angle on but Lee flies in & wraps him up for no gain & we win, please...no clapping.

What the f*ck do any of you know? Like others have said, LBs like Keuckly, Shazier, ect. are 230-240 & making plays all over the field. Jamie Collins has become a stud for the Pats. Lee runs a 4.3! That is smoking!

The criticism is ridiculous with an entire draft. I'm more pissed that the Fins ended up with maybe the best f*cking tackle in the draft dropping right into their laps. You watch he'll be the offensive Sapp, son of a bitch!
