No you wait. I don't give a rats ass what Hack looks like at this point. He was a 2nd round draft pick as was Geno. Get him game time experience NOW. Better sooner than later. The season is lost so who gives a flying duck. At least we can start seeing what this kid is made of.

lol hackenberg needs a lot of work. A project pick just like petty..Mac loves these types for some reason. Bowles and Mac still want to win games, going for worthless "moral victories " to make themselves not look as bad. Hackenberg and petty are not ready in their opinion. Geno has a much stronger grasp of the offense according to what coaches have told the reporters. So the fans are going to have to wait.. I personally would love to see the two unprepared kids in there, let them learn on the run while they assure us a top 5 draft pick ?

So Hack needs a lot of work? More reason to throw him in there. I'm so sick of watching Geno Smith I'd rather see Hack go through the learning curve.

Everyone is sure sick of watching of Ryan Fitzpatrick play like utter garbage all season except 1 game.. Making 12 million to kill our season.. At least geno isn't even making 2 mil. There is comfort in knowing if geno plays anything close as bad as fitz played, you will see petty in there in a month..

There is no comfort in seeing Geno Smith play under any condition.

Looking forward to this 9-game winning streak.

Get Geno signed long-term now, before his asking price hits $30 million per season.

As long as Geno can win one out of six, he'll match Fitz record. Frankly, I think we can pick up any car salesman, start him, and we'll still have a good chance of winning one out of six.

Petty was throwing two weeks ago.  It's only last week that he was participating fully in practice.  By game time, he will have been throwing for three weeks.

Ok. Maybe the coaching staff doesnt think he's ready now. The season is for the most part over, if he isnt ready performance wise they may want to protect him from himself and possibly kill his confidence by throwing him out there too early.

Actually, the season is NOT over. The season will only be over once the Jets are mathematically out of the playoffs. They are FAR from that. So while fans can be realistic and recognize the odds of the Jets winning enough games to get in are slim, the coaching staff and players simply CANNOT and SHOULD NOT ever think that way. Anything can happen. Jets can get in with 9 wins as a Wild Card team, its happened before. The have 2 VERY hard games left- Patriots x2. If they lose BOTH, they can still get in. You never know. This team has the talent to go on a run against some of the worst teams in the league Dolphins 2x, Niners, Colts, Browns...and to an extent Rams, Ravens and even Bills.

Realistically speaking, the Jets are simply not going to win all of these 'easy' games. And they are playing awful football right now. But to expect the team to make roster moves imply based on the notion that the season is now over is absolutely ludicrous. In fact, the move to bench Fitz was made b/c the team believes the season is NOT over and if they got some better QB play, they can salvage it.

Technically you're right, however the Jets season being "FAR" from over???

C'mon. 2 teams since the AFL/NFL merger has started 1-5 and made the playoffs. Lets be serious here.

Im not saying that its impossible, im saying that only 2 teams have done it the past 45+ years

Regardless of what anybody thinks about Geno, Fitz, Petty, or the team trying to win or tank, for Geno these games are the most important of his career. If he plays well he has a shot to at least be somewhere next year competing for a starting position. If he plays poorly he's going to be lucky to take a contract at vet min somewhere else to be a backup. He has a chance to rewrite a lot of his history in the next ten games but he's going to have to put in the work and play really smart football. We know he can take it on the chin and be a real knockout. It's up to him to do it again.
