But it start the criticism, Beerfish. Starting Geno would ultimately come down to Mac opting to take away the teams competitiveness by settling for Geno. Whether he is Mac's choice or not, does not matter. Fans will see that Mac had Fitz available and he chose to pass over him. That can easily damage Mac's reputation.

that's if smith fails. on the flipside, if smith plays well, or atleast a helluva lot better than he has in the past, mac starts looking like he knows exactly what he is doing

While the whole discussion is an interesting one. No matter where you fall on the spectrum though

The Jets are signing Fitz, he's going to start without any competition and the Jets are going to pay at least $12mm for him this year.

Like it or not, at this point, this is more or less fact

And for that $12MM and being handed the starting position, the Jets, and their fans, will be rewarded with 5-7 wins.

You know why this really sucks is because you predicted 10 wins on the nose last year. Really the most objective Pats fan from Texas that I've ever seen.

You know when the madness has really set in when they start listening to him. ?

Or when a Pats fan can see reality better than many of us here.

You really think so. Or is his passion and desire for us to lose. Every game. And to be a stupidly run org. So he can laugh at us not with us. Other than that he's a nice guy. ?

Lol, it's probably a bit of both.  This is one of those times he's making sense though.

Besides, in terms of head-to-head matchups, it's not the Pats we have to worry about.  For winning the division, sure, but head-to-head, it's the Bills.

For whatever reason the Jets can hang with and beat the Pats any time we play 'em.  The Bills and Rex however are another story.  Rex is a good enough defensive coach to be able to scheme for Fitz's limited abilities.  Toss Geno in and Rex won't know what to do.

The Bills domination of the Jets in recent seasons predate Rex,  the Jets haven't beaten the Bills since their first match-up in 2013.

Ouch, didn't realize that.  Still though, doesn't change the fact defenses can stack the box and not respect beyond 20yds vs Fitzy.

Rex seemingly has always defended Fitz well.  I don't recall Fitzpatrick having huge games against us when he was the Bills QB.
