Darron Lee has a new manager.

Err, mom-ager, that is.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Jets’ rookie linebacker has hired his mom, Candice Lee, to be his manager. Candice, a broadcaster for WCMH-TV, will leave her job to help her son.

“I want to be there for many of his games and working weekends would not be conducive to traveling to see him play,” Candice said, per ESPN. “Plus, it was time. I have been in the business for 19 years.”

A first-round pick in this year’s draft, Candice reportedly gave her 90-day notice the day after her son was selected. According to ESPN, Candice will “devote her time to handling her son’s off-the-field affairs, including endorsements and marketing.”

Right now, Lee is one of five first-round picks that has yet to sign his rookie deal. Despite not being under contract, Lee has been in attendance for each Jets’ OTA and minicamp practices.

When he signs his contract, Lee’s deal is expected to be for four years and worth $10.2 million, according to ESPN.
