Tailgate Joe's

My girlfriend and I have been going for a few years but, the last two years have been a disappointment. Last year the beer was warm, with lots of suds, and two kegs became one keg. The line was ridiculously long and we were only "allowed" one warm half a cup beer(because of suds) per person. we'll give it another try Sunday and share my experience on here Monday.  J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!

thanks for the feedback.  one keg for what 100 people seems not enough.  what about the food?  the food seems awesome.  we were thinking of going one game.

That's weird.  Last time, I didn't even sign up.  I just stopped by to say hi to @Maxman@joebabyny personally stopped by with a plate of ribs, and an ice cold beer.  He then brought me a flute of 1998 Pol Roget Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill.  I thought it was a pretty good deal.

i would expect  the mods would eat and drink for free given it's the official tailgate of JN.  :=)

Jules, shoot me a pm with your email.

I am sorry the experience wasn't what you were expecting. In the 7 years I have been running TailgateJoe, I have probably gotten 7 complaints from the thousands of people that have joined us. I definitely take every 1 of those seven complaints seriously.

I am assuming this was the opener last year you are speaking of? There was definitely an issue with the beer due to the heat outside. We have taken steps to remedy that this game. As far as the beer rationing you mention, we ALWAYS have too much beer and go home with kegs, so it is never a question of running out. We will have at least 13 this Sunday. Sometimes if i feel the line gets a little long we limit it to one cup per person at a time just to speed it up and get the line gone. You have to realize, if one guy gets 2 beers, the guy after him sees that and takes 2, and the guy after him, and him, so in actuality you have 2x as many beers being poured at a time. Once I see a backup of a few minutes, I step in and pour the beers quick for a few minutes and that blows out the line and then it is back to normal. BUT THERE IS ALWAYS ENOUGH BEER!! The heat outside and the problem it caused at the taps exacerbated it a bit. Like I said, we are taking steps to alleviate the heat issue for this week.  Week one we had a little over 300 people, which isn't a huge number or an issue. The following week for the eagles was our largest ever with 556, and there were no lines for beer and was the smoothest run party we have ever done.

I have always run this as a friends and family party where I want my friends and family to have a great time, and everyone else that attends gets to benefit from how I host a party for my family. Of course there are moments, weather, unforeseen things that cause little hiccups here and there, but I think 99% of the time we get it right, and believe me, I stress over that 1%!

Well, my girlfriend and I went last year for the Redskins game and had a very different experience.  It was top notch.  Food was awesome, beer was flowing.  Got to meet some great people and everyone working for Joe was nothing but kind and respectful.

We will be there Sunday!!!!!

Excellent response joe. I have been to your party plenty of times in the past and yes sometimes there were small hiccups but they are never a problem when we see how you and your friend bust your ass to please everyone. Sometimes I question why the heck you do this. You are not making great money yet you just do it. Much respect Joe. Your response is pure class by the way.

My family and I have parked next to Joe and his set up for the last three years. I have seen thousands of people come and go to his tailgate. Most people (other than the people from this board) have no idea we knew or had any connection to him and I have never heard anyone say anything other than WOW that food was amazing!!  Have I witnessed the occasional hiccup or two with beer or something, yes but very very rarely! Like he said 300 to 500 people trying to get a beer at the same time once in a while there could be a line. Any reasonable person should expect that. Joe is not only a great guy, he also pours his heart and soul into everyone of those tailgate parties. The food should be featured on its own cooking show that's how good it is. The Kelso brand beer is picked up by him at the brewery so he knows it is fresh. I have witnessed him go to great lengths to make sure people he has never met before enjoy not only the food but the beverages as well. He is always looking for and trying to meet as many Jet Nation posters as he can in between changing kegs, adding ice, throwing more wings or burgers or sausage or what ever is on the menu on the grill and ALWAYS with a big smile and a THANK YOU!!  No Joe, Thank you!! Keep up the great work!!

Living in Arizona and traveling back for some games makes it difficult to setup a decent tailgate or bring everything I want so I've taken part in Joe's tailgates a few times.  Sadly, the tailgate has often been the highlight of the day for some games (ex.  At Eagles in December 2014).  Joe always delivers.  Food is spectacular and the atmosphere is great.  Always several people from the Jets messageboard community.

I WILL be there this weekend.  Flying back from Arizona on Saturday just to go to the Home Opener.  Have to see if my friends will be setting up a tailgate but, even if I don't partake in Joe's food and beer, I'll swing by the tailgate.

Say hi.  I'll be the guy in the Jets jersey.

Good job Joe.

I don't drink so I can't speak to any of the beer. But I eat enough so I can personally vouch for that, lol.

I was referring to last year when I went to TJ's specifically to meet Max and others from JN.  They are good dudes, they don't appear to be escorts (though I do pay good money and RV's are expensive so who knows?)
