A story emerged today on a popular Buffalo Bills message board that the team had met with former New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

On Saturday night, Sal Maiorana of Rochester's Democrat & Chronicle was asked about the rumor and the writer confirmed that the Bills did meet with Coughlin.

The purpose of the meaning has not revealed, but it's possible that Buffalo is looking at Coughlin as a potential consultant or football czar.

It's also possible that Coughlin's meeting was simply a part of his new job with the NFL. Coughlin was named the senior advisor to football operations this offseason and according to the New York Post, his job could involve him traveling to NFL games. The Bills will be hosting the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, so his visit could be work related.

Before accepting a job with the NFL, Coughlin had interviewed for the head coaching job of the Philadelphia Eagles before withdrawing his name from consideration.

Coughlin, 70, went 170-150 in the NFL as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants. He won two Super Bowl championships as the Giants' head coach.

Message board rumors? C'mon man

Well the Rochester newspaper confirmed the meeting. But it could have been just NFL business as the writer mentioned. But it looks like the owners are possibly distancing themselves from Rex already. Since when does an owner have meetings with players without the HC involved.

Or it could mean that Coughlin could replace Rex.

I doubt it. Coughlin's 70 and has not expressed interest in coaching again. Could see the Bills making him team President, though, if circumstances are right. Either way, Rex is just playing out the year, if he makes it that far...

Coughlin is 100 years old. He probably thought he was in Canada

Consulting or demanding young whippersnappers get off of his goddamn lawn?

Go from a guy who has no self control who's offense usually sucks to an old angry guy that shat the bed often because even with a good QB he had no clue how to run an offense? DOn't know how you sell Coughlin to ownership nor any fanbase. The old angry guy acg is not a positive with potential free agents. What are you gonna sell them on-Buffalo?

I think the NFL dispatched him to settle down the circus in buffalo or the owners called him in for a chat on what to do about rex.  I would be shocked if he takes any job with Buffalo.

Fixed. :-P

Its gonna get very crowded under the bus if they blow this one.

Maybe Rex and Rob take one from their fathers playbook and punch each other in the face at the same time.

Honestly, I would pay to see that.
