FLORHAM PARK — Earlier this week, Todd Bowles was asked why his 1-5Jets haven't been able to rekindle the same magic they had a year ago.

Among other things, the head coach said the team hasn't "come together" like they did in 2015, which has led to on-field struggles.

And apparently, a few off-the-field incidents as well.

According to a report from ESPN, defensive end Sheldon Richardson and receiver Brandon Marshall were involved in an ugly verbal altercation after the Jets' loss to the Chiefs in Week 3. While things didn't turn physical, it was enough to warrant a talking to from the head coach.

"I took care of it right there," Bowles told ESPN.com. "I addressed the team and I addressed the two guys. It will not happen again."

According to the report, Bowles brushed off the incident, saying it was nothing more than a "normal training-camp deal," before adding "there were a bunch of people who had words" after the game. Marshall told ESPN it was just a "disagreement between two Alpha males ... two bulls."

Whether that's true or not, the fact Marshall was involved isn't exactly a good look. This is now the second incident this year involving Marshall and a teammate.

During the summer, cornerback Darrelle Revis and Marshall were involved in an ugly confrontation that led to Marshall taking an open-handed swing at Revis. Marshall said Revis hit him first during individuals, which led to a war of words that escalated during team drills.

After catching a long touchdown on Revis in 11-on-11s, Marshall told Revis he didn't respect him anymore and referenced the cornerback's poor game against Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins in 2015. Marshall had to be restrained by teammates after his open-handed shot.

While Marshall and Revis made up shortly after the incident, it's unclear if his spat with Richardson has had any residual effect. The loss to Kansas City was the first in the Jets' ongoing four-game losing streak.

"It was problem-solving, starting off the season really bad," Marshall told ESPN. "You guys understand how emotional and how intense the game is. When you come in the locker room after a loss like that and you're looking at each other, trying to problem-solve, it may not always be the right time.

"Sometimes you have to give it a day or so for everyone to calm down and cool off and say, 'OK, what do we need to do to solve it?"

Marshall has had various off-field incidents with teammates throughout his career.

Crazy. What could they possibly have been arguing about. Did someone owe someone money?
