varjet
Its seems like, given the demands of being an NFL player, there is often a delay from the occurrence of a serious injury (many months out) and a return to prior effectiveness. I am sure that after a very serious injury, a player never returns to where they were. Some past and potential future examples: Revis' training appears to have been effected by his surgery, and he did not return fully to form in 2016. Wilkerson is not up to his old self. He broke his leg. Khiry Robinson re-broke his leg. That was a risky signing. Decker is having hip and shoulder surgery this offseason. Will he be effective in 2017? Devin Smith in 2016-does he need another year? Geno? I think teams should consider more carefully how quickly they bring players back from injury. Larz
damn, looks like teddy B might be done http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2671564-teddy-bridgewater-injury-update-doctors-reportedly-concerned-about-qbs-future Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on NFL Countdown Sunday morning that doctors around the NFL are worried Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater might never play in the league again, per Will Brinson of CBS Sports: Teddy Bridgewater continues to rehab in Minnesota and he is making progress. Nearly two months after he dislocated his knee, Bridgewater is making strides and Vikings officials are pleased with where he's at. But other doctors around the league know there are no guarantees Bridgewater will be able to return to the type of quarterback he was, if he makes it back to the NFL at all. As one doctor who's worked with NFL teams said this week, "If he didn't make it back, it wouldn't surprise me. This is a bad injury, about the worst knee injury a player can have." The silver lining here is Bridgewater is a smart and upbeat kid. If he's forced into retirement I hope he'll be able to find something else in life. Terrible. The league is in desperate need of young players like that guy.
